The family of an Arizona shooting range instructor accidentally killed by a 9-year-old girl while he was teaching her to use an Uzi said they feel sorry for the child. His daughter, 19-year-old Ashley, told NBC's "Today" show that the family knows it was a "tragic accident" and something she'll have to live with. She said she planned to write a letter to the girl's family. "Our thoughts and our prayers are with them. We don't want their life to revolve around this," she said. "My heart goes out to the little girl and I feel sorry for her and...

We have never seen leadership like this out of the White house -that I know of- in our history. There’s a difference between civilian rule and authority and their allegiance to the constitution to protect the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic and we are getting into that crossover point where the president and the white house is moving into dereliction of duty because we are not at an increased readiness state and we are taking no steps to respond like we should have done in Benghazi and so we are in a very dangerous situation where the...

Appearing in part 1 is the phrase "low-information voter" (LIV) which is oft used by a popular radio talk show host. The host suggests that those who make up this population set are individuals who vote for a candidate or important issue having little or in most cases zero knowledge about either. LIVs are highly opinionated even when they have no idea what they're talking about. Also included in part 1 was the following quote from C. Edmund Wright. I appreciate the way he expands on the LIV concept: But forget low-information voters for just a minute; the malignancy that...
  • President Obama needs to focus on how the United States can meet global challenges

RESIDENT OBAMA’S acknowledgment that “we don’t have a strategy yet” in Syria understandably attracted the most attention after his perplexing meeting with reporters Thursday. But his restatement of the obvious was not the most dismaying aspect of his remarks. The president’s goal, to the extent he had one, seemed to be to tamp down all the assessments of gathering dangers that his own team had been issuing over the previous days. This argument with his own administration is alarming on three levels. The first has to do with simple competence. One can only imagine the whiplash that foreign leaders must...

Britain faces the “greatest and deepest” terror threat in the country’s history, David Cameron warned as he pledged emergency measures to tackle extremists. The UK threat level was raised to “severe” — its second highest — meaning that a terrorist attack is “highly likely” in light of the growing danger from British jihadists returning from Iraq and Syria. The Prime Minister said that the risk posed by Isil (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) will last for “decades” and raised the prospect of an expanding terrorist nation “on the shores of the Mediterranean”. He disclosed that Isil had...

Finnish defence forces announced on Saturday that they are to conduct an unusually large-scale military exercise close to the Russian border next summer. Up to 8,000 reservist troops from all regiments will take part in training in the border district of Pielinen Karelia in June 2015. Major Markku Vääntänen said military exercises on this scale are only organised in the region about once every ten years. The training will be the defence forces' principal exercise event next year.

At the #BeigePressConference, it became eminently clear that “the strategy thing” is above Big Guy’s pay grade: “I don't want to put the cart before the horse. We don't have a strategy yet,” before elaborating, “I think what I’ve seen in some of the news reports suggest that folks are getting a little further ahead of what we’re at than what we currently are.”  Imagine if Donald Rumsfeld had uttered that line! Or better yet, George W. Bush! Butt I digress; since we prefer to be led from behind,Head ‘em up, move ‘em on! and since Val is still on...

Have you noticed that the word “lust” is being purged from the Bible? The Greek word for lust (epithemia) points to inner sin thirty-four times in the New Testament. In the vast majority of these places it has traditionally been properly translated as “lust” or the archaic and more precise word, “concupiscence.” Not Any More Unfortunately, modern translations, such as the New International Version (NIV) are abandoning the word lust....

The difference between revenue and spending is now forecast to be more than $400 billion smaller through 2024 than the agency estimated in April. Still, the cumulative deficit would be substantial, reaching $7.2 trillion over the same period. While interest payments on the debt will be less than originally forecast, they would reach $799 billion in 2024 alone, the CBO said. Congress must vote in the next month to continue funding government operations, as current law only authorizes spending on many programs through the end of September. Congress also must decide whether to renew several corporate tax breaks, some of...

Well, let’s put all that aside for the moment to honor a fallen Oklahoma City police officer killed in the line of duty last week. Officer K-9 Kye responded to a burglary call with his handler, Sergeant Ryan Stark. Apparently the burglar was armed with a knife and when Officer Kye engaged him, the criminal thug stabbed officer Kye inflicting a fatal wound. Sgt. Stark responded in what I believe most of America will agree was a justifiable response and sent that cop-killer burglar to Hell with his sidearm.

During difficult times the community organizer does what he does best. Retreat to the faculty lounge and hide. The White House is no longer the resident to the head of the executive branch but a faculty lounge. The only thing the “do nothing” community organizer does when an enemy attacks America or its allies is to run and hide. The only time he shows his face, is when he has to, somewhat like an adjunct professor passing out assignments to the staff and quickly retreat to the faculty lounge. The isolated pretentious intellectual’s only friend is the teleprompter. Consider his...

The notorious Sydney gang rapes in 2000 were committed by Lebanese Australians. Muslim men raped women and girls as young as 14. Australia, being a sensible sort of place, identified that the rapists were targeting white girls and branded these monstrous acts "racially-motivated hate crimes." Because that's what they looked like: one ethnicity was specifically targeting another. The Australian girls were vulnerable, and they were abused by Middle Eastern men who considered them "trash." Had these men been at home, they would have raped their own, but in another country, women from outside their own "community" were preferable victims. Elsewhere...

Regardless, essential power-generation jobs in the U.S. will be lost over the Administration's obsessive actions based on the dubious climate claim. And, so will relief for those in desperate need of low-cost abundant fossil-fuel energy worldwide. Right now, there’s a billion-dollar bonanza in government funding for climate-change research, education and reeducation, engineering and reengineering, and state and local government programs. Heaps of public dollars are ready for the taking for anyone willing to help the feds continue generating and fine-tuning the gloomy “gospel” that preaches “The end is near for low-cost, home-grown, abundant energy use.” Furthermore, financing is readily available...

BEIJING (Reuters) - China ordered its journalists on Saturday to learn "Marxist news values" and uphold the principles of news as prescribed by the ruling Communist Party, the latest step in President Xi Jinping's crackdown on the media. The guidelines by the All China Journalists' Association are aimed at both traditional and online media and are another sign of Xi's politically conservative agenda. "Let us hold high the banner of socialist core values," the report said, using the party's term for orthodox beliefs. Xi has espoused old school Maoism as he seeks to court powerful elements in the party. Like...
