Andy Stanley’s sermon series called "Aftermath" makes many foundational errors regarding the historical, Catholic Christian faith. Since Andy wants the end of the story without the beginning, we too started at the end and will go back to the beginning. We begin our 3 part response with his sermon "Not Difficult,” where Andy seeks to make the case that Christianity needs to be “unhitched” from the Old Testament.

I think Charles Stanley gets a bad rap. I know that his theology isn’t without defects, but I think his ministry has been an exceptional witness for Christ. In fact, I receive In Touch every month-and Daily Devotions.
You confuse your argument with discernment.
Run away as far away from false preachers as you can.
More than a few here have posted their concerns about Andy, which shows their discernment as well.

Yes. As you should. The Bible is a guide book on judging. Christians who aren’t judgmental need to question their salvation.

Good luck with that. Ministers nowadays are pretty shallow. It’s not necessarily that they’re wrong; they’re just not deep. When we relocate and look for a church we try to find a minister who knows Hebrew and Greek which is invaluable when studying and teaching the Bible.
I’ve tried doing that here and you see the bean pile I’ve come up against (as expected).
Folks need to understand that most churches have been infiltrated by the devil in these last days. I’ve had to leave several myself after it became obvious that the message wasn’t just a watered-down gospel, but literally another gospel.
Paul exhorts us to “work out our own salvation” in Philippians 2:12 and John in 1 John 4:1 tells us to “test the spirits”.
So you’ve graduated from that train of thought then?
What’s wrong with being a Berean in that case? And pointing out the very flawed teachings of a pastor that is telling folks what they want to hear?

As a Jew with years of education which turned me into an atheist (I tend toward the “Just the facts, Madam” school of inquiry, i.e., reason vs. faith) let me say that whatever this thread is trying to sort out, I agree with you. Whether or not you believe in a mystical realm, man is given as part of his survival tool the faculty of reason. Reason, as Jefferson said, must trump faith in matters of state and/or relations among men. Sadly, this faculty is less used than in the days of olde.
