Marco Rubio Tells Pastors to Love Gay People, 'Abandon a Spirit of Judgment'

Florida Senator Marco Rubio told pastors during a conference on Rediscovering God in Orlando that loving gay people, instead of judging them, is a fulfillment of the teachings of the Bible, rather than something that goes against it.

"In order to love people you have to listen to them," Rubio said in his speech at the Rediscovering God in America Renewal Project, according to Breitbart News. "You have to understand their perspective, their hopes and their dreams and their fears and their pain."

Rubio ran for this year's Republican presidential nomination. He dropped out in March after failing to win his home state of Florida. He had decided to retire from the Senate this year, but changed his mind after hearing from Republican leaders concerned about losing control of the Senate.

Rubio insisted that he supports the traditional definition of marriage between one man and one woman, but urged Christians to understand why gay people feel angry and humiliated that some do not recognize their relationship as a marriage.

The Florida Senator also warned that those who preach that God condemns America because of gay people only add to the hurt and division.

"As if somehow, God was willing to put up with adultery, and gluttony, and greed and pride, but now, this is the last straw," he offered.

Rubio continued: "To love our neighbors, we must abandon a spirit of judgment. Do not judge or you will be judged. For in the same way you judge others you will be judged. And with a measure you use it will be used to measure you. And we should remember not to ignore the plank in our own eye."

He further insisted that "abandoning judgment and loving our LGBT neighbors is not a betrayal of what the Bible teaches, it is......

We judge them BECAUSE we love them.

What a nerve.

Firstly, I believe that loving people caught up in homosexuality is required of Christians.

It is NOT judgment to be in agreement with God’s word, that homosexuality is sin.

We should love sinners and hope and pray that they turn away from their sin. All of us, all sin.

Having said that, we should NOT ALLOW the teaching of sin as normalcy to our children. That is a grave mistake.

Rubio's gay male review.

I don't care to be told by a homosexual that I must accept their sexual decisions.

And this is my best understanding of the practice of Christianity as well.

If Grayson is the opponent, then you pretty much have to vote for Rubio. I will not fault you for it. He is the lesser of two evils.

I wanted Jolly but he dropped out.....I am under no illusion that he was great but he was better then Rubio. I am surprised that Rubio has been welcomed into this race. The whole thing is a mess. (I was kidding about Grayson....no way will he even be nominated even from the drones that are Democrats).

Hey-—foam.park.boy Rubio..

We are called to judge by their “fruits”. It is just being RATIONAL. WE ARE RATIONAL ANIMALS and without Reason we are nothing but animal.

Nothing is more dehumanizing and degrading and irrational as sodomizing other human beings. It is disqusting and the most grievous, vile thing you can ever do to another human being. It is never “Love”, but Lust and domination (dehumanization). Abomination has a special meaning in Hebrew and St. Paul knew what he was preaching.

Just Reason, Logic and Common Sense (Natural LawTheory) the basis of American “Justice” system-—you NEVER promote irrational, vile uses of the body to anyone—esp. little children or in “Just Law”. It is the slippery slope to Sodom and Gomorrah as history and the Fall of Rome proves.

why gay people feel angry and humiliated
- - -

Because they are guilty. It is God (their conscience) that condemns them, not Republicans.

Those who preach that God condemns America
= = =

Well, check out Ezekiel, Jeremiah, Amos, etc.

These men spoke God’s words of condemnation on Israel.

Sorry, Rubio. Someone’s internet search/Bible look-up won’t support YOUR position.

“Judas went out and hanged himself” “Go thou and do likewise”

Some of what he says is accurate; we are called to love sinners, but not endorse or applaud their sin.

Christians are nothing but sinners saved by grace. We are called OUT of sin and by walking with Him we are made anew.

We aren’t perfect, but we also don’t applaud or flaunt our sin. We ask God daily to destroy our sinful tendencies....this is, in theological terms, called “santification”.

Marco isn’t fully wrong, it just appears he is only telling a portion of the story.
