Statue of the Virgin Mary is Left Miraculously Intact After Fire
Aletelia ^ | August 24, 2015

Posted on 08/24/2015 3:38:40 PM PDT by NYer

The events took place at the El Goloso military base, located near the Spanish capital, seat of the nation's armored infantry brigade "Guadarrama." According to several Spanish news sites, including Infovaticana and Religión en Libertad, a fire broke out that was impossible to control, burning most of the surrounding vegetation.

Once the flames were extinguished, to the soldiers’ surprise, in the middle of the charred area, stood a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes—totally undamaged! What's more, the soldiers were shocked to see that the grass near the statue had not been touched by the flames and that it was even still surrounded by vases filled with flowers, also intact, as if the flames had respected the space around the statue.

The fire took place on July 30, in the middle of the heat wave which had descended upon Spain. The soldiers could not explain why the statue had suffered no damage nor why the flowers had not even been blackened or withered by the heat. The story quickly spread though social networks, some suspecting a fraud, but further investigations have dispelled all possible doubts. In the photographs, one can easily see that the ground is completely burnt, except near the statue.

Indeed, for the most part, the soldiers on the base did not know that there was a statue of the Virgin in their garden. However, some of them who had a special devotion to Mother Mary had recommended themselves to this representation of Our Lady of Lourdes. And, the statue had already participated in official ceremonies at the military base.

The local authorities’ investigation seems sufficient to clarify the natural aspects of the event. There are realities that human knowledge cannot understand but that faith explains. And human science and faith, working together, offer some explanation.

Still, this story reveals Our Lady’s special protection of this statue, however simple and unpretentious. And everyone can learn a lesson from this. Unexpected events may occur that set fire to a world full of threats and evils. In the near future, in the midst of disasters that we cannot even imagine, Our Lady—especially Our Lady of Lourdes–will go through them, fearless and untouched, with the symbols of the devotion of the faithful. And those who believe, even if they are a minority discredited by the atheist or unbelieving majority, will be recognized amid the tragedy as Heaven’s beloved children.

Catholic apologetics are so weak.

No prayers to mom. No statutes of Mom. No prayers to mom. No reliance on mom for salvation. Etc, etc.

There isn’t one part of Roman Christianity’s basic teachings-

The name Jesus
December 25
Good Friday
Easter Sunday

That can’t be explained away..with scripture. Even newer sloppy translators have given us two Scripture witnesses and references that allow doubt of how sacred a name Jesus is..
(Those scriptures are Acts 7:45 and Hebrew 4:8- those were once sacred’jesus’ name but have been substituted with the English joshua-again, sloppy)

And that ‘core’ is exactly what most of the protestants I know believe in, too. (I was one .. Still am but far more so that even protestants would feel they need to come to Rome’s defense now and again)..

And it took coming out of the world to see it. Because people who call today ‘Monday’, may never ‘see’ the differences..or think they aren’t important. The only way to tell a counterfeit from the genuine is to hold it up to the Light. I have done that work by His Amazing Grace and Mercy.

But it was that ‘Serve me’ from Mary and her 14th promise pointing to Jesus that got me wondering when do lies ever point to Truth in scripture..

Those prayers are ‘biblical’.. The promises for praying them are not.
And I have no problem saying it.

Because I have heeded the call of testing/proving all things-
And asking,seeking and knocking.

A humbling experience but it is why when one brings up the Rosary , I chime in! That is how He made me think..

And I met Him as the Roman Jesus, but He didn’t let me stay there..

Most protestant daughters couldn’t say that..

But it is All for His Glory!

I think this thread needs a little song release.
Eric Clapton performed a song he wrote for the Blessed Mother.
‘In this benefit concert for Bosnia in 1996, Eric Clapton performed a song he wrote for the Blessed Mother along with the renowned Italian opera singer Luciano Pavarotti and a terrific Gospel choir. The words of the song are a real prayer for Clapton. In his memoir, Clapton: The Autobiography, the musician writes about a rock-bottom moment he had in rehab in 1987:

“I was in complete despair,” wrote Clapton. “In the privacy of my room, I begged for help. I had no notion who I thought I was talking to, I just knew that I had come to the end of my tether . . . and, getting down on my knees, I surrendered. Within a few days I realized that . . . I had found a place to turn to, a place I’d always known was there but never really wanted, or needed, to believe in. From that day until this, I have never failed to pray in the morning, on my knees, asking for help, and at night, to express gratitude for my life and, most of all, for my sobriety.”’

Holy Mother, where are you?
Tonight I feel broken in two.
I’ve seen the stars fall from the sky.
Holy mother, can’t keep from crying.
Oh I need your help this time,
Get me through this lonely night.
Tell me please which way to turn
To find myself again.
Holy mother, hear my prayer,
Somehow I know you’re still there.
Send me please some peace of mind;
Take away this pain.
I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait any longer.
I can’t wait, I can’t wait, I can’t wait for you.
Holy mother, hear my cry,
I’ve cursed your name a thousand times.
I’ve felt the anger running through my soul;
All I need is a hand to hold.
Oh I feel the end has come,
No longer my legs will run.
You know I would rather be
In your arms tonight.
When my hands no longer play,
My voice is still, I fade away.
Holy mother, then I’ll be
Lying in, safe within your arms.

Because I have heeded the call of testing/proving all things-

So you are conversant with real Catholic Apologetics on the points you cite? Coming from the Evangelical background to Catholicism, I've yet to see a Protestant "refutation" that didn't wind up looking like the last scene in Elvis' "Follow That Dream."

Further, given the sheer volume of extra-biblical "explanations" required to make Protestant incongruities "workable," I don't believe "throwing stones from a glass house" is inappropriate.

I looked for quite awhile on Google and also Facebook to possibly find a picture of what this area with the statue looked like before the fire, because without that there’s really no telling about this, but so far haven’t found anything. If there was sort of a garden of flowers around the location of the statue, that was watered, that could be an explanation. I tried looking without any English words, but just the different Spanish words that were given, and Lourdes, so as to maybe come up with a picture someone might have taken there before this fire, but as I said, nothing has turned up so far.

***(1. Whoever shall faithfully SERVE ME by the recitation of the Rosary, shall receive signal graces.)***

That’s a big red flag waving there right from the get go, which should have made all of it null and void as soon as it was relayed to those of spiritual discernment.

It brings to mind also about the end days of signs and lying wonders; strong delusions and believing in a lie. (2 Thessalonians 2) - and - if it were possible, even the elect could be deceived or seduced by it. (Matthew 24:24 and Mark 13:22)

It appears “Dominic” got duped and others followed suit with whatever lying wonder he envisioned or heard, because our LORD’S WORD is very clear as you laid it out.

He will definitely not give His Glory to another either:
I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images. (Isaiah 42:8)

Any Christian should be very concerned about this because we are held responsible and accountable for not warning our brethren to be aware and on guard regarding these things that don’t line up with Scripture.

I would like to address your question “fatima” and it is not an attack on you, or other followers of “Catholicism”, because we are all in this fallen world together and we should work with one another to help one another understand the things we question in our journey for truth.

***(Is Mary the Mother of God?)***

Well “fatima”, I’m not a bible scholar or a church goer, nor do I adhere to any organized religion, but I do search out matters because I want to be pleasing unto our LORD.

The best way I can answer your question is this:

Mary is the physical (flesh body) mother of Christ Jesus.

So in that physical (flesh body) she cannot be considered “Mother of God” because God is Spirit, and Mary was not.

Now that Mary has passed over to be with the LORD, she has a spiritual body, but it still doesn’t make her the “Mother of God”, because she is now a “child of God”.

Even our Lord and Saviour thought it robbery to put Himself above or equal to God in Philippians 2:5-10.

*Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;*

Mary humbled herself too, and God never put her above or equal to Himself that we could even consider referring to her in such a way as “Mother of God”.

Mary should always be viewed in that physical sense of this miraculous birth of our Lord and Saviour Christ Jesus.

To take it beyond the physical role she took part in is extremely beyond the boundaries that are set.

It’s so far beyond the boundaries that it would make one who didn’t know any better to think, wow, if Mary didn’t come along there would be no God because she is His Mother.

Also, for me to state this in such a way that I have, does not demean or deny the Divinity of Christ Jesus in any way either.

I hope this helps to understand the important role Mary was a partaker of, but please keep in mind that she was a flesh and blood body just like the rest of us, and to give her a even higher standing as far as calling her the “Mother of God”, is just so way over the top that I just had to share this.

No, but it does show you've embraced the Nestorian heresy.

The Trinity is difficult for anyone to put into words, and just for us to understand. We don’t fully, as God hasn’t fully revealed everything to us.

Do Catholics believe that through Mary the eternal God was created?

Or that Jesus didn’t exist until He was conceived by the Holy Spirit in Mary’s womb?

“Even an object with hallowed connotations can be taken in a wrong way, the bible has examples of that.”

And an object with TRULY hallowed connotations (the Ark of the Covenant) can be...taken AWAY (by the Philistines)! God allows His Ark to be taken into captivity, but an icon of one of His creatures survives a fire?

False. Sign. (And it only works on those who entertained previous false signs in their heart.)

“These are passages from [Commentary on] the Magnificat by Martin Luther. Did he have it wrong too? “

Yes. Did our Founders have slavery “wrong”? They laid the foundation for its removal even if they—products of their time and place—owned slaves.

Whew. Just got done reading the thread. Doesn’t seem anyone has a physical explaination for this event (no “debunking” that I can see). Just the usual “Catholics worship Mary” pablum that usually pops up on threads that contain the “M-word” in their titles. Fortunately that pablum proves nothing.

It’s a beautiful story for those with a devotion to Our Mother. I actually hope this thread goes another 200 posts with the “Catholics are idolaters” nonsense. The more that see the OP the better in my opinion. Its beauty outshines all the dreck in the replies (in this case)

God Bless all who read the story!

So what should we call the Mother of God.Or are you saying She is not the Mother of God?

So Mary's mother is God's grandma? Where does it end?
