First Presbyterian Church of Bethlehem seeks to leave national Presbyterian Church
The Morning Call (Allentown, PA) ^ | 8/4/2015 | Sarah M. Wojcik

Posted on 08/04/2015 11:05:04 AM PDT by Kevin C

The largest Presbyterian church in the Lehigh Valley has begun a process that could lead to a split from the most visible national denomination — a move initiated after a survey showed most of its congregants disagree with church positions, including those allowing same-sex marriage and the ordination of gay ministers.

I suspect that we are going to see a lot of this as local congregations take a look at what their denominations' stances are on this issue.

Yes we will see schisms in denominations over homosexual marriage.

It saddens me to see this issue causing such chaos in our churches.

While the Supreme Court has imposed homosexual marriage in our civil laws, our secular laws, I don’t see why it then follows that religious denominations should be compelled to change their definitions of marriage.

I hope they have the right to keep their church building. The poor Methodists when they split over social issues in our area have to give the church to “the organization” even though they built the church and even remodel with the members’ own money.

What’s more amazing is that all the groups that accepted ‘gay marriage’ actually wouldn’t then marry their own gay members until the state they were in happened to also accept it.

Yes, the state absolutely determines who may or may not marry in those religious groups. To them, ‘marriage is a civil matter’ and that’s it jack.

Oh, Calvin’s church in Bethlehem,
Split from the libs, we pray,
Cast out their sin and enter in
The Bible’s narrow way.
Those in the Lehigh Valley
Now need to take their stand:
The TULIP flower will show its power
Throughout Penn’s hallowed land!

Not I.

It separates the wheat from the chaff.

Satan does have a counterfeit righteous, ‘can transform into an angel of light’, side to his divided Kingdom ..

And scripture tells us divided kingdoms do not stand.

Is there a conservative Methodist group? If so do you know their name?

“Is there a conservative Methodist group? If so do you know their name?”

You might look at the Wesleyan Methodists or the Church of the Nazarene

PCUSA churches are the same. The church property is owned by the National organization. The pastors would even lose any retirement savings they have set back.

I dont take joy in people falling away from salvation. We should weep for every single one.

bingo! That’s what I was going to say. These apostate organizations never were churches. True churches stand on the Rock of Christ and his Word the Bible. Come Episcopalian, come Methodist, Come Presbyterian, Come Baptist and worship the true Lord in spirit and in truth. “Come out from among them and be ye separate” Perilous times are to come upon the earth as we await the return of our Lord and Savior!

Don’t hold me to this, but I think it is a collection of former PC(USA) churches that have rewound to 30 years ago.

A bit squishy in that believe. They claim Scripture is the ultimate rule of faith, the still ordain women.

Par35 may know more.
