From Southern Baptist to Goddess Worship, Sue Monk Kidd

Excerpted:

What Catholic mysticism does is reject the Bible as the sole and sufficient and perfect revelation of God and tries to delve beyond the Bible, even beyond thought of any kind, and find God through mystical “intuition.” In other words, it is a rejection of the God of the Bible. It says that God cannot be known by doctrine and cannot be described in words. He can only be experienced through mysticism. This is a blatant denial of the Bible’s claim to be the very Word of God.

This opens the practitioner to demonic delusion. He is left with no perfect objective revelation of God, no divinely-revealed authority by which he can test his mystical experiences and intuitions. He is left with an idol of his own vain imagination (Jeremiah 17:9) and a doctrine of devils.

She (Sue Monk Kidd) determined that she was willing to lose her marriage, if necessary.

"I would not, could not forfeit my journey for my marriage or for the sake of religious acceptance or success as a ‘Christian writer.’ I would keep moving in my own way to the strains of feminine music that sifted up inside me, not just moving but embracing the dance. ... I felt the crumbling of the old patriarchal foundation our marriage had rested upon in such hidden and subtle ways. Though both of us would always need to compromise, there was no more sacrificing myself, no more revolving around him, no more looking to him for validation, trying to be what I thought he needed me to be. My life, my time, my decisions became newly my own" (pp. 98, 125).

That sure sounds like a democrat, excuses and all. Voters can blame no one but themselves. No one makes their voting for anyone.

Sadly, trying to argue about Catholic doctrine with Evangelical Protestants is often not much more fruitful than King Triton trying to argue with the Chairman of Ford Corporation about hybrid technology.

How is the Bible just “a book”?

And since she's His mother, He has to do what she says, otherwise He could be grounded, right?

LOL, or maybe just a time out. 😂😀😃

BTW, OY, I think someone should make a movie about a dog, and call it Old Yeller. Oh wait........😆😊

Think of it this way, does God hate all sin? He does. In His mercy, He wants to forgive it, and He can because Jesus paid for it, but it is mistaken to think it is His desired will for us.

What God had was foreknowledge of Adam and Eve’s sin, like He has of ours. He responded to them with His plan for man’s salvation before they and the world were even created.

Words and deeds don’t always match. See my post 124 on this subject. It includes excerpts from Alphonse Liguori’s “The Glories of Mary,” including the following:

***For as the moon enlightens and benefits the lowest creatures on earth, so does Mary enlighten and succor the most unworthy sinners” (”Pulchra ut luna, quia pulchrum est benefacere indignis”). And though the moon, says another writer, receives all its light from the sun, yet it works quicker than the sun; “for what this latter does in a year the moon does in a month” (”Quod sol facit in anno, luna facit in mense”—Joann. A. S. Gem. Summ. l. 1, c. 3). For this reason St. Anselm says “that we often more quickly obtain what we ask by calling on the name of Mary than by invoking that of Jesus” (”Velocior est nonnunquam salus, memorato nominee Mariae, quam invocato nominee Jesu”—De Excel. V. c. 6).***

***”But now,” says Arnold of Chartres, “that we have the Son as our mediator with the Eternal Father, and the Mother as a mediatress with the Son, we have full access, and can go to God with entire confidence and hope for every good thing. “How,” he goes on to say, “can the Father refuse to hear the Son who shows him his side and wounds, the marks of his sufferings endured for sinners; and how can the Son refuse to hear his Mother when she shows him her bosom and the breast that gave him suck?” (”Securum accessum jam habet homo ad Deum, ubi Mediatorem causae suae Filium habet ante Patrem, et ante Filium Matrem. Christus Patri ostendit latus et vulnera; Maria Christo pectus et ubera”—De Laud. B. V.). St. Peter Chrysologus says, “that a gentle maiden having lodged a God in her womb. Asks as its price peace for the world, salvation for those who are lost, and life for the dead” (”Una Puella sic Deum sui pectoris capit hospitio, ut pacem terries, coelis gloriam, salutem perditis, vitam mortuis, pro ipsa domi exigat pensione”—Serm. 140).***

You are welcome to worship any false god(s) that are idolized by the Roman Catholic cult, along with all those dead people's plastic statues. Those are more commonly called IDOLS, and worship/veneration of them defies Scripture, as well

You may remember a certain wedding in Tagum City. I remember it was HOT, but I also remember that there was a graven image (idol) about every 10 feet. I honestly thought the air was oppressive with mysticism.

I am seeing my nephews and nieces next weekend. I have been remiss with the few of them that believe in gay marriage. I just say nothing for fear of alienating them but it is my responsibility to let them know what I think. I will go with the statistics and facts. They don’t lie

If you can’t bear to hear our Lord’s virgin mother referred to as blessed, you could just call her the mother of God.

She is blessed, as we all are in Christ.

And we can call her *mother of Jesus* just like the Holy Spirit referred to her as.

And Mary we a virgin only for Jesus birth. She was a wife to Joseph and had other children by him.

I’ll continue to show respect to Mary and you an continue to speak in gibberish tongues and play with snakes. We’ll both be happy.

Do you then deny the words of Jesus? Or are you just mocking them?

Mark 16:16-18 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

I don't suppose then, that Catholics believe that baptism is necessary for salvation or that praying for people is effective. You want to mock those things as well?

AMEN. You cannot cherry-pick the parts of Scripture that you really like and ignore the rest. He specifically stated the word “SHALL”, not “may” or “should” or “perhaps”. SHALL. Boy would THAT make a great Bible study subject...:)

Exodus 20:4-6 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

The problem Catholics have here is that God doesn't say, *Don't WORSHIP them* but not to bow down to them or serve them.

He is dealing with actions, things that can be objectively determined. Considering He knows the tendency of man to redefine works and weasel out of something that way, and knowing that it is hard to make a subjective determination, He made it easy.

You can see someone bowing down.

Oh? Now you disown non-white Catholics?

Catholics are so quick to throw fellow Catholics under the bus except when they want to brag on being 1.2 billion strong. Then they still count EVERYONE who is on the membership rolls, which includes me as I've never asked to have my name removed.

I'll bet they don't even know that I'm not attending any more.

Heh. It's *just a book* when they want to denigrate it when non-Catholics use it and other times, it's *the Catholic church WROTE the Bible, without them we wouldn't have it, say thank you Catholic church*.

The double standard is staggering.

**White Catholics did their job.**

Is that like a White Hispanic?

Whatever happened to the wonderful unity of the Roman Catholic Church? Or is White Catholicism it’s own separate denomination?

Please explain how Mary is not a Romanist deity?

As a former RC, all I can do is speak for myself, not other Catholics. I did not think Mary was divine. I did, however, think she was just barely underneath God, in rank and importance. If the classic definition of worship, would be to light candles at her statue, to pray the rosary to her, and consider her to be the co remptrix with Jesus, to name a few, then yes, I worshipped Mary. Rightly or wrongly (at the time, anyway,) this is what the priests and nuns taught me. I don't know what other Catholics were taught. Maybe some of you former Catholics can shed some light on it. 😇

I agree. The key is a persistent total commitment to the faithfulness of the Lord Jesus Christ of the Bible, Of Whom the Bible is the Topic; the purpose of which is to show The Father God’s plan of salvation, and His Kingdom of righteousness and peace yet to prevail over all.
