From Fundamentalist Baptist to Catholic – Steve Wilson’s Story
http://www.catholic-convert.com/ ^ | February 26, 2015 | Steve Wilson

Posted on 03/01/2015 4:54:44 PM PST by NKP_Vet

Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”

I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.

What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.

So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

He claims he was never in The Way Internationak and not a follower of Rood or his teachings. I try to take FReepers at their word. Do you know otherwise?

Well, I have a distinct memory of an exchange I had with that poster about Rood. I remember him defending and supporting his teachings - even referring to Roods updated calendar that was based on barley.

Either I am getting old, or he is misrepresenting or slippery. In either case, I find his posts to be non-Biblical and fringe, Rood-like heresy.

The truth will be revealed.

You left off 12,000. Don't remember how many you made in the past?

Yeah, Rood was set on correcting the Jews. Rood is one of those who would put people back under the law.

So, the many Catholics on FR that say a baby is marked by baptism, that mark is circumcision? Now I understand. Baptism means circumcision, that's why it is called the the "mark" huh? Makes much more sense! Are you sure you were supposed to reveal that? You may get in trouble. Terycarl, you are a great witness to bring people into Biblical Christianity.

It must be as miserable as hell to go through life and never smile, never laugh, ignore sarcasm, and assume that others are the of the same glum status......I know a few peopple like that....they're very sad.

Actually, in the context that we are discussing, Jesus says that the fruit of the vine is His blood. I see why Mary is expected to answer Catholic prayers: Jesus has His mouth stuffed with things He did NOT say.

Taking the cup of wine He blessed is, gave it to His Apostles and said TAKE AND DRINK OF THIS, THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD WHICH WILL BE SHED FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SIN wine into His Blood in my estimation....

‘Rood is one of those who would put people back under the law.”

Christians are not under the law, as you know.
Rood is a heretic that created his own cult.

Thinking that all non Catholics are Protestants will cause ignorant comments like that.

All non-Catholics are not protestants...some are Jews, Hindus, Mormans etc....However, all non Catholic Christians are protestants...ie;..protesters of the true Christian faith....

>>Rood is a heretic that created his own cult.<<

He sure is. He got his start in "The Way International" cult.

Those results are the consequence of their sin.....what did He do to cover their sin?

He created bushel baskets to put the apples in????

He gave them clothing to wear, but their sin wasn't fornication nor adultry because there was no one else there and since they were a couple...intercourse was O.K.

One Bride of Christ, all born again Christians are included.

Some call it Jesus’ church, that’s fine.

I’m sure there are some Catholics among the saved.

Catholicism make a circle around their denomination excluding all other Christians unless they join the “Church.”

Christians make a larger circle (Biblical), and invite any born again (scriptural) Christian Catholics to join. As Jesus showed and invited.

Oh and the 20,000/32,000 etc etc figures have been totally debunked here on FR in the RF. In depth.

Many Catholics learned of their “misdirection” in that area.

You seem to be one of the stragglers hanging on to a false argument in order to make a dig at Protestants and other Biblical Christians.

It’s alright, Jesus warned us about that.

>>1215 This sacrament is also called “the washing of regeneration and renewal by the Holy Spirit,” for it signifies and actually brings about the birth of water and the Spirit without which no one “can enter the kingdom of God.”7
There’s no water in that verse...Not the washing of water...It’s the washing of regeneration...

The word used in Greek in Titus is lutron, which I understand actually means “bath.” So there’s your water there.
The washing of water IS the washing of regeneration; because the Holy Spirit uses the water to do so.

Another proclamation that the only Christians that exist are Catholics. The Catholic church fathers agree. God doesn't.

You have no idea whether or not God agrees with that....however, the Catholic church does NOT teach that nor would Catholic church fathers agree with it...

There are some of us however who do accept the idea that the sin of Eve was fornication with the devil...We could be wrong but it seems plausible... THIS is a new one!

When protestants post on here, you see a LOT of new things...
