Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

just asking...how does Lazarus fit into that theory??

Hello!

Forget what I just said about Tery knowing his bible!

John 11:11

After Jesus said this, he told his disciples, "Our friend Lazarus is sleeping,

That the Holy Ghost leads us does not negate the fact that to us, Mary is the God-giver and all the saints are whom we should imitate if we ourselves want to be saved.

You left out the

Obeying God’s command to give us the Savior (Luke 1:38).

Can you NOT read?

She did not OBEY.

The angel TOLD her what was going to happen.

Do you REALLY think Mary had FREE WILL in this instance?

Be it unto me as you have SAID.

If you knew the English language you would not confuse worship with veneration.

If you knew the Scriptures...

Sinless Mary??

Luke 2:22-24

When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord  (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”),  and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”

Leviticus 12:7-8

Then he shall offer it before the LORD and make atonement for her, and she shall be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for her who bears a child, whether a male or a female.
'But if she cannot afford a lamb, then she shall take two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for her, and she will be clean.'"

No one is making her a "demi-god", by the way.

Sigh...

Morning Consecration to Mary

My Queen, My Mother, I offer
myself entirely to thee.

And to show my devotion to thee,
I offer thee this day, my eyes,
my ears, my mouth, my heart,
my whole being without reserve.
Wherefore, good Mother, as I am thine own, keep me, guard me as thy property and possession.

Amen.

In Luke 11:28. Read the Holy Scripture every once in a while and you, to, will be closer to Christ your Savior.

Why leave out 27?

27 And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the paps that gave thee suck.

28 But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God, and keep it.

....for example, soon everyone will agree with me as it should be.

I do!

On many things.

I just think your dogmatic extra baggage is slowing you down in proclaiming GOD's love for the lost.

>>If you knew the English language you would not confuse worship with veneration.<<

venerate - To regard with deep respect or reverence.
Latin venerātus, past participle of venerārī to solicit the goodwill of (a god), worship,
Synonyms: revere, worship, deify, glorify, adore, idolize

revere - from Latin reverēri, from re- + verērī to fear, be in awe of

We either live or die by them...

My take-away on this thread is that non-Catholic Christians want people to call them jerks.

Not ME!!

I just want to make use of my rhyming dictionary!

now there is a strange protestant stirring of the pot...everyone leaves Heaven......everyone leaves eternal bliss for what???????

Now HERE is a common Catholic tactic: leaving out words when they 'quote' someone!

In fact, most everyone leaves heaven at that time..

Well I am glad to hear that. Many seem to feel or express that once they accept Jesus, they will always be saved. I still don't know why so many feel the need to attack Catholic traditions and teachings.

The difference is Evangelicals do not see what I posted as "cooperating" with God's Grace. We are bought with a price, the price of Christ's precious blood once for all.

God owns Salvation. It is His Work, not ours. When we walk with the Lord it is by His Grace. Jesus clearly pointed this out to Peter in the Upper Room. Peter and the other disciples (except Judas Iscariot) were washed and only need their feet to be cleaned.

Do unto others as you would have others do unto you.

EXACTLY!!

I'll have to call them something WORSE than jerks; for it is OBVIOUS that they wish to it 'done onto themselves'.

There was an ekklesia (assembly) in Smyrna, another in Ephesus, and another in Paul said "also greet the church that is in their house."

"And Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier, and the church in your house:

"Give my greetings to the brothers at Laodicea, and to Nympha and the church in her house."

Oh well, some will get it. "The churches of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church in their house"

"How I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was profitable, and teaching you in public and from house to house,
