Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

Now there is something we can agree on.

Can we find one about Paul, Peter, James, or any of the apostles?

Your point?

And please don't try the logic business of if we can't find her she must have been assumed.

We covered logic last night. No repeat courses.

You obviously don't look very closely at who posts the vast majority of Religion Forum threads. I wonder how you can miss all the intentionally provocative threads posted BY Roman Catholics disparaging the beliefs of "Protestants" and extolling their own superior and elitist religion that ARE almost daily. Most of the threads posted on the RF by non-Catholic Christians are infrequent and NOT intended to inflame, but y'all sure do glom unto them quickly enough and turn them into flame wars. I'd be real interested in seeing a comparison of how much money Catholics donate to Free Republic compared with those who aren't.

Why not do a little soul searching and figure out why you only seem to see "mocking" when Catholicism's teachings are legitimately challenged? Nine times out of ten, it's the FRoman Catholic who ignites the first flare.

And, I will defend ANYONE'S right to post their thoughts on OPEN threads. That is the spirit of Free Republic and that freedom is even open to those who freeload and never donate a dime to this site - something JR does out of the kindness of his heart. If y'all don't like that, stay on your precious Caucus threads and you'll never have to worry about your beliefs being challenged.

Question, why in 99.9% percent of Jesus and Mary pics would Jesus be a child and Mary and adult?

“Bet not one prot ever went to him private mail and said ‘slow down boy!”

You apparently don’t know just how incorrigible Elsie is!

Even his goats butt him - and it has no effect!

Yep. AKA carnal.

>>Mary was more than important, then and now.<<

She was obviously so unimportant nobody even kept track of where she lived her last days on earth. No so important.

“could you show us point us to any printed or unprinted bibles prior to 1500 AD that were not the Latin Vulgate or a local translation of same.”

Not sure why you are even asking me this.

Please elaborate FRiend. You must have something in mind that brings this up here.

“She was born without original sin.”

Not in the Bible.

never mind I’m off again see you all in three-four months.

Prayer for Aborted Babies

Heavenly Father,
Thou hast given us the gift of freedom
to love and to follow in Thy ways and commands.
Some parents choose to abuse this freedom
by destroying the gift of life
which Thou hast given to their offspring.
Please forgive those who destroy human life
by aborting their unborn babies.
Give these unborn children the opportunity
to enjoy Thee for all eternity,
if it according to Thy ordinance.
Assist me in being one in solidarity with Thy little ones
by taking to heart the words of Thy Son,
“whatever you did for one of these least brothers of Mine,
you did for Me.” (Mt. 25:40)
Therefore, allow me today, Father,
to adopt spiritually an unborn child
and to offer my prayers, works,
joys and sufferings for that little one,
so that child will be able to be born and live
for Thy greater honor and glory.
We pray this in Jesus’ name,
in union with the Holy Spirit one God forever and ever.

Amen.

For the Greater Glory of God

I was making the point that if I did that to you the RM would be all over it but because Elsie ‘has issues’ and “is harmless’ he is given a big pass. You would not stand for a Catholic to pull that crap as it would demonstrate how evil we are. What does it say about all the prots that just smile and give him a pass. Bet not one prot ever went to him private mail and said ‘slow down boy! or do you all think that is just acceptable prot behavior.

You are supposed to PING the person you are talking about. That's basic FR courtesy even IF you have an aversion to getting posts from said freeper.

The RM does a good job of policing these often cantankerous threads and Elsie knows the "rules". I think the fact that he has you so riled up over innocuous comments probably encourages him all the more. That you don't see the SAME behavior you are bemoaning among your fellow Catholics is astounding! There are PLENTY of FRoman Catholics pulling crap every day here, Elsie's attempts to interject some humor once and a while is refreshing. Maybe you take yourselves too seriously?

Don’t worry about me I’m on this forum once every three months. I am off for three months For the Greater Glory of God

Wish I could say you'll be missed. Ta ta.

The Protestants don't understand the distinction because they do not know how to worship anyone. To worship is to give sacrifice.

On the contrary, if Catholics think that's all worship is, they are missing the boat.

Learn the meaning of words and you will understand the Holy Scripture and will become Catholic like me.

God FORBID.

We know the meanings of words. What we don't acknowledge is the Catholic version of the definitions.

The Catholic church does not own the English language any more than anything else it likes to lay claim to.

Do you not believe that the saints in heaven, including Mary, will greet the chosen at the 2nd coming of Our Lord Jesus?

No one goes to heaven at the 2nd Coming of Jesus...In fact, most everyone leaves heaven at that time..

I do care, and am thankful, that my name has been written in the Lamb's Book of Life. It cannot be erased.

written in the book at Baptism, of course, but if you think that you are not free to erase it, you are sadly mistaken.

want to join ISIS because you have a spirit of adventure?, want to have sex with that girl who is nor your wife?, want to help yourself to the merchandise in my store?,

the book of life, as you describe it has certain requirements in order to remain in it. Yes, Jesus died to atone for our sins, but He certainly expects us to clean up our acts.

salvation is a gift...a gift that we are free to refuse at any time and many do. Remember, maany are called but FEW ARE CHOSEN...be careful with that book of life thing..

I am absolutely denying it, and stating for the umpteenth time that Catholics do not “bow down to graven images,” and all that connotes.

Um, is that bowing, kneeling, or worshiping?
