Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

Nothing makes all FReepers look bad.

Except to those that stereotype and use a broadbrush.

THAT would seem to make individuals look bad and is counter productive to what Free Republic is all about.

Check out the disclaimer at the bottom of each thread.

“Disclaimer: Opinions posted on Free Republic are those of the individual posters and do not necessarily represent the opinion of Free Republic or its management”

It seems to me that the rules for open threads in the RF allow those posting on them to express their opinions.

The RF is not the news forum, and seems to me to serve a purpose.

If you disagree with something someone posted, prove them wrong.

I would suggest using scripture, the inerrant Word of God.

Discuss the issues all you want, do not make it personal.

At the risk of being completely ignored, because every single time I ask a Catholic to cite the chapter and verse to support these position all I hear is ..............crickets.

WHERE, pray tell, is it cited in the Bible that you go through Mary to get to God??? Why can’t any of you support your positions or just come out with it once and for all, that you do NOT BELIEVE IN THE INHERENT TRUTH OF THE BIBLE??

I am getting the impression that the biblical experts here, or so they believe they have the truth, need to read Paul’s letter to the Corinthians - specifically the 13th chapter.

Any one of the experts care to tell us just what that message is, and how beating each other about the head in order to prove how valid one’s “truth” is is valuable in God’s kingdom?

So why do you and others regularly post statements and complaints about the Roman Catholic Church? Why do you persist in misrepresenting its teachings?

In short, why do you care? There are any number of Protestant churches, each with their own brand of Christianity. It could be a “high and holy” Anglican, a mega-church with a climbing wall and rock band, a home church, you name it.

Why not spend your time and energy focused upon the Glory of God? Why waste your time criticizing something you don’t believe? Instead, especially as we prepare for the Nativity of Our Lord, give alms, fast, and repent. Wouldn’t that serve Our Lord more?

Merry Christmas!

Oh yes, she is dead and has been for a very long time. The Bble says all have sinned and did not include, “except for Mary.”.

“What Luther stated in his Confession 450+ years ago and what’s going on in the Lutheran Church now are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.”

Well you won’t find me disagreeing with that statement. But there are still churches out there that are true to the original Lutheran doctrines. It’s pretty much the ELCA that gives a bad name to Lutherans...

I do notice one common thread when something of this sort is posted: Catholics can be cry babies.

I’ve never seen anything like it. More times on this thread than anything I’ve seen in months (except for another Catholic thread) some catholic with hurt feelings goes screaming to a mod for help. Seriously?? Why not just support your arguments? Oh....wait.....

I understand

You just need to be as true and faithful to your faith as you can be.

I would think that the more modern the thinking the further away from Christ.

Keep the faith and I hope you have a Merry Christmas

For the Greater Glory of God

While you searched, it appeared you came up with “damning evidence.”

There's no "appears to have come up with damning evidence"...it is damning evidence.

Here's more from St. Louis.

He's not just hoping or wishing for us...he's telling us we "have" to do this for Mary.

I'm sorry for catholics who believe these lies from the pit of Hell.

This opening line is a sure sign of a cult....secret information that was only given to St. Louis. No wonder it's secret...it's a pack of lies. The enemy is very adapt at mixing in a little truth with about three parts lies. He used the same trick with Eve. Amazing how many he has fooled using the same tactic.

1. Here is a secret, chosen soul, which the most High God taught me and which I have not found in any book, ancient or modern. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, I am confiding it to you, with these conditions:

Act for Mary

6. It all comes to this, then. We must discover a simple means to obtain from God the grace needed to become holy. It is precisely this I wish to teach you. My contention is that you must first discover Mary if you would obtain this grace from God.

11. (5) As in the natural life a child must have a father and a mother, so in the supernatural life of grace a true child of the Church must have God for his Father and Mary for his mother. If he prides himself on having God for his Father but does not give to Mary the tender affection of a true child, he is an impostor and his father is the devil.

WOW! SHEER UTTER BLASPHEMY!

49. 4. We must perform all our actions for Mary, which means that as slaves of this noble Queen we will work only for her, promoting her interests and her high renown, and making this the first aim in all our acts, while the glory of God will always be our final end. In everything we must renounce self- love because more often than not, without our being aware of it, selfishness sets itself up as the end of all we work for. We should often repeat from the depths of our heart: "Dear Mother, it is to please you that I go here or there, that I do this or that, that I suffer this pain or this injury."

50. Beware, chosen soul, of thinking that it is more perfect to direct your work and intention straight to Jesus or straight to God. Without Mary, your work and your intention will be of little value. But if you go to God through Mary, your work will become Mary's work, and consequently will be most noble and most worthy of God.

2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful instruction.

1 Timothy 5:20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

Proverbs 15:12 A scorner loveth not one that reproveth him: neither will he go unto the wise.

>Jesus said here that He was drinking the fruit of the vine.<< And blood doesn't come out of a vine.

Neither does water, but the guests at the wedding feast at Cana drank the finest of wine that Jesus created out of vessels full of water.....See what He can do with water, wine, blood, ANYTHING????
