Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

Do you even know what that picture represents? Do you know what the either the context or circumstances of that picture are? If you did, you would realize it has nothing to do with your statement.

Why do you and others insist on posting inaccurate information about the teachings of the Church, and then follow up with absurd statements?

Clearly you are not Catholic, nor do you wish to be. That said, your statements clearly indicate your understanding of Catholicism, and its Biblical nature are lacking.

There are others like you who regularly spout such insults as “Catholics worship brazen images.” While that may be your opinion of what you are seeing, it doesn’t make it true.

Repeatedly, as in the case you responded to, a recognized, and “Church Approved” (nihil obstat) was given. This was to clarify what you THINK the Church teaches, and what it actually teaches. Disagree all you like with the teachings of the Church, just don’t misrepresent them.

Because you are an absolute loony toon, I’ve asked you before not to post to me. You have consented up until now, so I will make that request again. Seek help.

FReepers calling Catholicism a cult makes all FReepers look bad. This site is for political discussion, not for the Sister Bertha Better-than-yous to show off thier HTML skills.

>>“Thou art Peter and upon this Rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it.”<<

That Catholic Church says that it was on Peter's confession, not on the man Peter.

CCC 424 424 Moved by the grace of the Holy Spirit and drawn by the Father, we believe in Jesus and confess: 'You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. On the rock of this faith confessed by St. Peter, Christ built his Church.

>>“Whatever you bind on Earth shall be bound in Heaven, and whatever you loose on Earth shall be loosed in Heaven.”<<

Actaully it says "will have been bound in heaven". The apostles could only declare what had been declared by God already. God never gave anyone the right or power to make the rules.

To that end, let me point out that you are therefore in grave error. Your rejection of what scripture really says. I will pray the Holy Spirit opens your eyes.

A graven image would be an idol, held equal to God.

Act through Mary

48. 3. We must never go to our Lord except through Mary, using her intercession and good standing with him. We must never be without her when praying to Jesus. http://www.ewtn.com/library/Montfort/SECRET.HTM

I've got news for you....Any believer can go to Christ whenever they want to.

SHEER UTTER BLASPHEMY FROM CATHOLICISM

St. Anselm reminds us that we may obtain mercy more quickly from Mary than from Jesus, because Jesus is also a judge who can punish, while Mary exercises mercy as a patroness. It is not as if Mary were more powerful than Jesus, for we know that Jesus Christ is our only Savior, and that He alone by His merits has obtained and obtains salvation for us.

He reminds us: "We often obtain more promptly what we ask by invoking Mary than by invoking Jesus. Her Son is lord and judge of all, and discerns the merits of each one; therefore, if He does not immediately grant the prayers of all, He is just. When however, the Mother's name is invoked, [pg. /113] though the merits of the suppliant are not such as to deserve that his favor be granted, those of the Mother supply, that he may receive.".

Many things are asked from God and are not granted; they are asked from Mary and are obtained. Now why is this? Because God has thus decreed to honor His Mother. ... source: the glories of mary .

So if Jesus says no to your prayer....go tell on Him to mama and she will make Him answer the prayer???? So why aren't catholics asking for millions and millions....mama will get it for you.

SHEER UTTER BLASPHEMY

The Bible, you remember the Bible don't you...catholics claim to have written it, tells us we don't receive because we ask with the wrong motives.

These are just a few of the blasphemous statements catholics have made regarding the catholic version of Mary and her "abilities" that are either equal to, or greater than, those of Christ.

Apologies, it was Romans 3:28, where he added the word “alone.”

Secondly, the entire “Luther Bible,” was a translation from the New Testament from ancient Greek into German. He used Erasmus’ second edition (1519) of the Greek New Testament, known as the Textus Receptus. Luther did not translate from the Latin Vulgate translation, which is the Latin translation officially used by the Roman Catholic Church.

Further, his translation was designed for easy understanding in the then contemporary German. One can be critical of this translation, as it lacks precision, and allows for meanings to be shaded. Further, Luther wanted the ENTIRE book of James removed. You may want to look up what Luther wrote about the book of James.

Nice dodge. Utter depravity, eternal security, and other novel beliefs confuse those who believe them.

All on Earth are sinners, not angels. All in Heaven have been found worthy by the Father. If a person on Earth is alive in Christ, is not a soul in Heaven also alive in Christ?

If both are alive in Christ (the spiritual body of Christ), then intercessory prayers of those alive in Christ in Heaven are efficacious. So, thanks for making my point for me.
