Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

Posted on 12/14/2014 11:57:21 AM PST by ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

“I didn’t know you prots were as stiff necked a people as the Israelites.”

I’m amazed you could read daniel1212’s long, detailed post and not respond to a single fact, argument or thought, but went right to an ad hominem attack.

Protestants convert to Catholicism because they have found the truth. Catholics convert to Protestantism because they want to marry a divorcee or they want to use The Pill.

ding, ding, ding....I think you win the Kewpie doll.

I have met quite a few prot to Catholic converts - never heard even one of them bash a prot however, most fallen away Catholics who take on the mantle of protestation fell they are duty bound to bash Catholics.

Prots don’t fear Catholics...they are trying to reconcile with them...in the name of the Lord!

I believe that is an untruth of the highest order.

Never heard of one prot who wanted to reconcile with Catholics.

Their words belie their ‘best intentions’

YES! I agree. She is blessed among women! As noted by good Dr. Luke.

And likewise we as believers are blessed in the Beloved with the same grace.

Ephesians 1 where Paul is us that with this same grace, God has blessed us (believers) in the Beloved. IOW, we all have access to that grace and it has been bestowed on us all.

http://biblehub.com/greek/5487.htm

Luke 1:28 And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”

Ephesians 1:4-6 In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

Greek word “grace”

charitoó: to make graceful, endow with grace

Original Word: χαριτόω

Part of Speech: Verb

Transliteration: charitoó

Phonetic Spelling: (khar-ee-to'-o)

Short Definition: I favor, bestow freely on

Definition: I favor, bestow freely on.

HELPS Word-studies

Cognate: 5487 xaritóō (from 5486 /xárisma, "grace," see there) – properly, highly-favored because receptive to God's grace. 5487 (xaritóō) is used twice in the NT (Lk 1:28 and Eph 1:6), both times of God extending Himself to freely bestow grace (favor).

Word Origin: from charis

Definition: to make graceful, endow with grace

NASB Translation: favored (1), freely bestowed (1).

One can only conclude then, that you are unaware of the religious upbringing of many of the RC posters on this forum.

Some of them are among the most prolific posters of Prot hit pieces going.

Trinity expressed:

Luk 3:21 Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,

Luk 3:22 And the Holy Ghost, descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

its easy

never saw a prot genuflect

never saw a prot kneel in prayer

never saw a prot bow their head in respect of any other religion or religious figure

they like to hold hands when they pray together

they like to “do fellowship” (whatever the heck that is) on the Lord’s Day

they like to sit at home on the Lord’s Day and ‘church themselves’ where I’m sure they are on their knees, heads bowed in silent prayer during each and every commercial break.

like I said prots are a stiff necked people like the Isrealites and some of the same stuff is coming round to them

For the Greater Glory of God

Sorry to see AG go.

I seriously wonder though did something happen to him like a stroke or something?

He usually didn't post that kind of material.

I don’t know but those posts were getting rather vile and don’t belong on a religion thread or anywhere else.

You really need to get out more in that case.

I've seen Christians (those people you call protestants) kneel, genuflect, and even do a ballroom dance or two.

I do not bow my head in respect to any other religion or religious figure. Would you bow your head to an Imam? A Satanist?

Fellowship on the Lord's Day is going to church and worshipping with fellow believers.

Some interesting stats on evangelicals and catholics oer Pew. http://religions.pewforum.org/comparisons#

Believe in God; absolute certainty: evangelicals, 90%; catholics 72%

Importance of religion in one's life: Very important: evangelicals 79%; catholics, 56%

Evangelicals attend church on a weekly basis if not more. That's better than most catholics per Pew. Evangelicals 58% attend more than once a week or once a week; catholics 43%.

Evangelicals pray more frequently daily than catholics...78% to 58%

Evangelicals, 59% believe the Word of God is literally true word for word; catholics 23%.

This one isn't good for either evangelicals or catholics though it is better for evangelicals...my religion is the one true faith leading to eternal life...evangelicals 36%, catholics 16%.

Many religions can lead to eternal life...evangelicals 57%, catholics 79%

Maybe because it's not your thread and not any of your business.

FR is not yours to control. Stop trying and get a life.

This was a discussion about Mary and my comments as far as requirements were meant only in regards to Mary. You know Catholics believe in the divinity of Christ and salvation in Christ only.
