Is Prayer/Veneration/Worship to Mary Biblical?
self | 12-14-14 | ealgeone

The reason for this article is to determine if the worship/veneration given to Mary by the catholic church is justified from a Biblical perspective. This will be evaluated using the Biblical standard and not man’s standard.

English is not Latin. The meaning in English is all that matters. If they say “venerate”, then no one can squeeze by its meaning in English. We speak English here.

So when you read something written in the 20s and they say they were gay you just figure they were homosexuals?

But what can be expected of someone who thinks the Catholic church is a better interpreter of Scriptures then the Holy Spirit?

Strange post...to say the least...of course the Holy Spirit inspires Holy scripture....but the Catholic church has been assigned, by Christ to Interpret it. The Holy Spirit very seldom, if ever, posts His interpretations in a newspaper or magazine, instead He has, unceasingly for 2,015 years, spoken through the Catholic church....you might not believe that, but as always....the truth is the truth whether or not everyone believes it.

Then it must be one of those things that Moses preached?

The latter is what Catholics do with Mary. The former example is evidenced in NT epistles.

The wording of a prayer is irrelevant, if you ask me to pray for your sick daughter, you have done to me exactly what we ask Mary to do. Please, Mary, pray for us, now and at the hour of our death....that's the Hail Mary.

Let's not forget that the catholic church has admitted that ALL of their hopes are in Mary.

you must study Catholicism a lot!!, I've been Catholic for 76 years and I have NEVER heard of that....oh well...all of my hopes are in the Lord, as is the case with every Catholic I know....we aren't Marians, we are CHRISTians

I’m thinking there are many Catholics who rue the day that the internet included so much information about the Catholic Church.

totally wrong, Information on the Catholic church has been readily available for a couple of thousand years. What bothers Catholics is the amount of disinformation posted by supposed learned people concerning the Catholic Church.

Personal opinions, feelings, opinions garnered through whatever means are not "Information"...it is trash, some lies, self-interpretation of things that we are not qualified to interpret, misleading 2nd & 3rd hand gossip and things that one may have "heard" about those catholics...

>>However, Christians do not "venerate" Mary like catholicism does. Catholicism, though probably well intended, has crossed the line between the Biblical injunction of counting Mary as blessed to full fledged worship.<<

In your opinion maybe....but basically untrue.

Mary is an important part of the Christian narrative regarding the birth of our Savior, but she is not the central focus of the New Testament as catholicism has made her out to be.

what was the last thing that Mary is recorded saying in the Bible??

There is only one thing one needs to know about the catholic church:

They take the money offered to feed Yeshua’s sheep, and spend it on palaces and man made treasures.

This convicts them of Humanism, another word for paganism, and proves that they openly disrespect and disobey Yeshua.

What sophistry. Care to prove that by showing statistics that references collections, charitable expenditures and percentages of same?

All we have to do is look at the vatican, or any of the well known cathedrals.

Guilty as charged!

The church of greed and lavish living.

I see. Perhaps one should broaden their vision and include the work of Mother Teresa in their formulations of the Catholic Church. All leads to God and exemplifies the splendor of the Incarnation.

What? - Do you believe in salvation through association?

Teresa was quite unique, and no one else in that church comes close. It is a church that celebrates greed, pomp, and agglomeration of wealth. They out greed the Queen of England.

Are you so intimately familiar with all 1.2 Billion Catholics on the planet that you can say this with confidence?

It is a church that celebrates greed, pomp, and agglomeration of wealth. They out greed the Queen of England.

I would caution against adopting the carnal outlook of the secularists for the purposes of supposed theological satisfaction. That agglomeration you speak of is the work of humanity throughout the ages. There is no value attached to it.
