If you believe that you don’t know the first thing about historic Protestantism.

So Rick is not a "historic" Protestant? Do you mean a "traditional" Protestant?

I thought you guys hated "tradition"! Don't tell me you have your own??

This is the kind of word gaming RCC posters on FR employ to try to put down those who are trying to help them see the errors, the deceptions, in which RCC members have been trapped for hundreds of years, including the deception of Purgatory.

Over the course of time, many of the posters on FR religion forum threads have been Christians who have "come out of her" and have tried for a while to encourage others to do the same.

>>If they did, then there would not be so much formal fragmentation and indifferentism among them now would there?<<

Of course there would. We get a hint of it here.

Romans 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him. 4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand. 5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind. 6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

So there are allowable differences that are not affecting salvation that different people can hold and form groups that believe the same. Those silly duped Catholics think that all people need to believe only specific things dictated by Rome.

Right now in the world, the minority view is getting the majority of press, and you just don’t hear the fact that the vast majority of people believe that marriage is what it’s always been since the Creation: one man and one woman for life.

BINGO!

Certainly such attempts can nowise be approved by Catholics, founded as they are on that false opinion which considers all religions to be more or less good and praiseworthy, since they all in different ways manifest and signify that sense which is inborn in us all, and by which we are led to God and to the obedient acknowledgment of His rule.

They could sure write sentences back then!

Rick never spoke for Protestants because he has never been a Protestant. He was, and ostensibly is, an evangelical of the mushy, compromised, Message Bible, praise band, Jesusy love song, goat baptizing, navel-gazing, cheesy drama, short pep-talk self-improvement sermon, manmade church growth, loyalty oath, coffee and bagel bar, mega-church wing.

Not ME; Buster! I don't even LIKE water!

There is no “historic Protestantism” really anyway.

Just like...

There is no “historic Catholicism” either.

Not familiar with this acronym. Which branch of the service does it come from?

goats could give quite a fight trying to drag them into the water. Wish I could post a picture of my largest breeder with horns point to point about 44 inches and a head as hard as cement...lol Any billy that can shear over 40 pounds of hair at one shearing, and takes 2 men to take him down isn’t about to go into the water willingly....lol

“In your zeal to defend all things Catholic, Roman and otherwise, in your ignorance, you are stomping on thin ice.”

No, I expressed no ignorance, but merely a fact. Protestants followed their own man-made teachings.

“I sincerely urge you to reconsider your statement.”

I sincerely urge you to learn the truth.

“BTW, nothing I posted to you is false; you just don’t believe it’s true.”

No, what you posted is false. It would be false whether or not I recognized it to be so.

Completely false. No one disputes there would be schisms, but so many official ones and so many as is? No, that is because of the very roots of Protestantism itself.

“There is no “historic Catholicism” either.”

No. The Catholic faith has a contiguous history stretching back to Christ and the Apostles. Protestantism has a “history” stretching back no further than Luther - which means it has almost no history at all - and it is a “history” fraught with relativistic and subjective twists and turns showing it is nothing but a man-made group of sects.

After your incredible accusation, you have nothing to offer me except, perhaps one day, an apology.

Until then: You Are Greatly Mistaken About Many Things, vladimir998.

>>No one disputes there would be schisms, but so many official ones and so many as is?<<

What's so surprising about that? Some are simply differences that are not related to salvation. Some are differences that do relate to salvation. No one ever said error will not creep into different "churches". We already see that happening in John's time when he wrote Revelation.
