How Many Protestant Denominations Are There?

Partial List of 5000+ Protestant Denominations by Name

How Many Protestant Denominations Are There?    The 20,000 / 30,000 numbers and David Barrett's statistics

"The Facts and Stats on "33,000 Denominations" The 20,000 / 30,000 numbers and David Barrett's statistics
Part II

(Above links derived from here) ===> ("How Many Protestant Denominations Are There?")

⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪⛪

There are many, many more Protestant denominations out there, not just those reflected in the links above.    How many?    Well, nobody really knows for sure exactly how many Protestant denominations exist at any given point in time, because after you get done counting the first forty or fifty thousand, several thousand more new ones pop up here and there all over the place, like popping pop corn!      :-)

We Catholics love all our Protestant brothers and sisters (no matter how many denominations or "non-denominations" they belong to), and we simply want to share the fullness of the truth with them, so that they can find the precious jewel (the "pearl of great price") that we have already found (by the Grace of God).     With that in mind, the following song is dedicated to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, and their ever-increasing number of distinct and ever-changing denominations with contradictory, mutually-exclusive, incompatible teachings.    (And, no, that is not a bunch of cardinals singing that song!)

(Song -- "Bless 'em All!")

(This song is a tribute to all our beloved Protestant brothers and sisters, no matter what denomination -- or "non-denomination" -- they are currently in.)

"I appeal to you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree and that there be no dissensions among you, but that you be united in the same mind and the same judgment."     (1 Corinthians 1:10)

It doesn’t matter.

When two or more people come together in HIS name, that is church. That is the One True Church, that is the church founded by Jesus Christ.

Next question:   Who Founded All These Protestant Denominations?

It is quite instructive and enlightening for all of us to take a closer look at some of the more prominent heroes and other major figures who founded or extensively developed some of the countless Protestant denominations which currently exist, all of which were invented many centuries (about 1,500 years or longer) after the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.    (Some of those Protestant denomination founders and leaders are shown here, each of whom, as a founder/developer of a brand new denomination, is still held by many of their followers today to be the final, ultimate, infallible, supreme authority for the correct interpretation of the Holy Scriptures, the "Bible".)

The best way to profit from this exercise is to first take a quick look at some of the "images and likenesses" of these individuals, then search for their names on the internet to find a link where you can read a little bit about them and what they've done, or what denomination they founded or helped develop.    All of these individuals studied the Bible, then came up with their own unique, contradictory, mutually-exclusive, incompatible biblical interpretations, and their resultant conflicting teachings and doctrines, all claiming to be interpreting the Holy Scriptures under the infallible inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Philip Melanchthon is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Martin Luther is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.    (This is a reproduction of his face based on his actual death mask.)

Charles Finney is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

John Smyth is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Mary Baker Eddy is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Goodloe Harper Bell is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Ann Lee is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

William Booth is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Ellen Gould White is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

John Calvin is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Roger Williams is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Jacobus Arminius is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

John Wesley is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Charles Wesley is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Ulrich Zwingli is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Frank W. Sandford is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Aimee Semple McPherson is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

George Fox is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

B. B. Warfield is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Charles Taze Russell is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

William Miller is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

John Knox is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Gijsbert Haan is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

King Henry VIII is the final biblical interpretive authority for many Protestants.

Next question:   Who Founded The Catholic Church?

Jesus Christ, Founder And Head Of His Catholic Church, With His Specially Chosen Assistants
(Music - "Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ")

"And I say also unto thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build My Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."   (Matthew 16:18)

A Special Prayer Of Jesus Christ That The Holy Spirit Wants All Of Us To Know About

(Song -- "They'll Know We Are Christians")

"I do not pray for these only, but also for those who believe in me through their word, that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.    The glory which thou hast given me I have given to them, that they may be one even as we are one, I in them and thou in me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that thou hast sent me and hast loved them even as thou hast loved me."    (John 17:20-23)

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined."    Isaiah 9:2

Not meaning any offense toward you personally, but the premise of your posted article is false. I’ve never attended in a single church during the past 40 years that recognized any of those people as the “final authority.”

I think you will do better if you seek out facts for yourself and think about what they mean, instead of posting something that is poorly written and false.

Exactly. As far as I’m concerned, anyone who tries to stir trouble between Protestants and Catholics is no friend of Christianity.

Aimee Semple McPherson was a hoot. Her disappearance into the Pacific ocean surf followed by her walking barefoot into the US from Mexico and the silly lies she told to explain it (kidnapped by a couple named Rose and Steve) were hilarious.

I was walking across a bridge one day, and I saw a man standing on the edge, about to jump off. So I ran over and said “Stop! don’t do it!” “Why shouldn’t I?” he said. I said, “Well, there’s so much to live for!” He said, “Like what?” I said, “Well...are you religious or atheist?” He said, “Religious.” I said, “Me too! Are you christian or buddhist?” He said, “Christian.” I said, “Me too! Are you catholic or protestant?” He said, “Protestant.” I said, “Me too! Are you episcopalian or baptist?” He said, “Baptist!” I said,”Wow! Me too! Are you baptist church of God or baptist church of the Lord?” He said, “Baptist church of God!” I said, “Me too! Are you original baptist church of God, or are you reformed baptist church of God?” He said,”Reformed Baptist church of God!” I said, “Me too! Are you reformed baptist church of God, reformation of 1879, or reformed baptist church of God, reformation of 1915?” He said, “Reformed baptist church of God, reformation of 1915!” I said, “Die, heretic scum”, and pushed him off. — Emo Phillips

" I’ve never attended in a single church during the past 40 years that recognized any of those people as the “final authority.”"

=============================================================

You're making my point.

You are not old enough to have been in every Protestant denomination, unless you are at least 700 or 800 years old.

Catholics just can’t get the “man” as the head of the church out of their head can they? They have been so indoctrinated into thinking carnally they think all people need a stand in for Christ. Pathetic.

Your Pope and many Archbishops want to lecture the world about the “gifts and talents” of homos?!?!?

And you want to disparage Protestants???

Please, clean your own house first!

You are correct sir. The church is in the hearts of His followers. I do not have a big problem grasping the concept.
