So marriage vows should not include the phrase “ ... ‘til death do us part”, as there’s no scriptural basis for it?

How do you resolve the contradiction of Catholic Priests abusing Children or being a partner in a Homosexual Relationship while at the same time celebrating the Holy Mass.
Good enough for the priests , good enough for the Divorced people. If these evil priests are forgiven, so should the divorced People?

The denial of Communion is a public, ecclesiastical form of discipline for those who are in a public, objective state of mortal sin, or ‘scandal.’

If a priest is a known, unrepentant pedophile, he would certainly fall into that category. He would also be defrocked, presumably.

Sure there's a basis for it but there's no warrant for it...But why are you asking??? You've read the scripture...There's no room for debate...

That's pretty hypocritical...We all know there were priests that were known pedophiles by their superiors and they continued in their positions while dishing out the Eucharist...

Are you suggesting that, as slave wedding vows in the antebellum South were worded "... 'til death or distance do us part", modern wedding vows should be worded " ... 'til death or any one of a number of other scripturally-defined events do us part"?

You’re right about that; their “superiors” were evil men, and I would not want to be in their shoes come the Final Judgement.

Yes, in that case they would be hypocrites. But hypocrisy on the part of individual bishops does not logically invalidate the teaching/discipline.

Remember what Jesus said about the Pharisees. Although he considered the Pharisees hypocrites, he told his followers to do everything they commanded, since they sat on Moses’ seat.

Finally, Jesus never promised us non-hypocritical bishops. There may even be hypocritical ministers in your church.

I forgot to mention that any Catholic who perceives himself to have committed a mortal sin, “a sin that leads to death,” is obligated to abstain from Communion, if the sin has not been confessed and the penitent absolved.

It doesn't matter what I or you say, or what my church or your Church says, the issue is, What does God say...

So basically, the “...until death do us part” clause is just a theatrical flourish?

There are somewhere between ,8,000 and 30,000 Active Homosexual priests according to a book written by Father Cozzens at the time of the Scandal. Not only that, but there is current thought among the hirearchy to accept Homosexual couples into the Roman Catholic church. The Pope was part of these meetings.
Pounding on divorced catholics looks like bullying when compared to Homosexual Couples.
In the process Cardinal Burke was removed from his position because of these meetings.
note: Father Cozzens was in charge of Seminaries at the time of his Book.

What does that mean? Certainly not a recognition of homosexual “marriage.” A minority of bishops was talking about allowing “married” homosexuals to receive Communion, as there was a minority talking about allowing divorced and remarried couples to receive communion.

Most if not all of us make promises to God that we are unable to keep at one time or another...

That clause is said in both religious and secular ceremonies...It is not an oath to God...It is an oath to your partner...

You are focused on the wrong thing...What does God say about it???

Assuming His Son spoke for Him, He said “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

Assuming His Son spoke for Him, He said “What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.”

You mean unless it be for fornication as Jesus said???

God did not give you nor your religion the authority to pick and chose which scriptures it wants to believe...

Act_20:27 For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.

If you can not teach ALL of the scriptures, you are unskilled in the word of God and need to start over with the milk of the word...

Heb_5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.

1Pe_2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Looks like a problem with internal inconsistencies.

There are no problems at all...If a theology can't use all the scriptures there's something wrong with the theology...That's why your catechism won't touch those scriptures in Corinthians...

If Homosexuality and it’s practice are so sinful and against the teaching of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church why would it be discussed in a conference between the so called leaders of the Church.
How about they discuss the plight of Divorced Catholics,When a great many had to get out of a Dangerous and miserable situation.. The church does allow marriage to be dissolved under their rules. Being beaten and abused should come under those rules. As Christians we are taught to forgive.
Except in this case???
