Ping to an interesting piece in First Things.
If this was previously posted, my apologies, but I searched and didn’t find it.
Just because you failed to live up to a standard doesn't mean there's something wrong with the standard.
Ping.
I wanted to hear what the Church believed in her own words.
You’ll have to get it in their own words. I don’t want to ruin the surprise.
And, obviously understood neither. But, even that is God's management. We are more than happy to hand her over to you folks...keeps her off the streets.
Why would a church exclude someone when Jesus Himself loved all and came to save us all, regardless of our sin? Do some priests excuse themselves from communion if they have sinned?
You should have caucused this so that the adults can have a rational discussion. I’m in RCIA now, and it’s good to be coming home. I look forward to a rational discussion about this, if the trolls can be kept at bay.
maybe on day you’ll read and understand Paul and the Epistles.....
Don’t be ridiculous....no Catholic Priest has ever sinned. /s
It’s not what’s in a building it’s what’s in the heart, GOD see’s the heart!
The funny thing about Communion is that Jesus’ instructions were pretty clear and simple. My wife and I partake at home. It’s a very simple kinetic symbol of the foundational support of all of Christianity.
And ANY Christian, after examining himself, can partake.
ALL churches tend to add rules that are not actually in the bible. We all need to be on our guard to root it out when we see it.
I thought about that, but because of the mention of Calvinism in the article, I figured it violated caucus rules. I dislike partially eliding quotes, as it sorta defeats the purpose of quoting.
I'd hoped that the others wouldn't be interested in internal Catholic theological issues, but I was foolish.
It's wonderful to hear that you're in RCIA. My son's girlfriend is, too.

My divorced parents overcame this by making a "donation" to their church before marrying each other.
That is the road to Heaven. It starts with honestly acknowledging where we fall short.
Conversely, broad is the way...

Perhaps you could elaborate.

""I came to Catholicism from Calvinism." And, obviously understood neither. But, even that is God's management. We are more than happy to hand her over to you folks...keeps her off the streets. |
Let me know if she ever gets to Christianity.
There was a recent post that mentioned Catholicism, but was allowed to be caucused. The reason is in post 2: http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/3221748/posts
Good catch.
I guess it's too late, RM, to rid this thread of the various vultures and make it Catholic Caucus Only?

“I wanted to hear what the Church believed in her own words”
The official position of the Catholic Church is contained in the doctrine of the Church, not what Francis and his merry band of modernists want would like for it to say. Francis attacking Catholic doctrine is attacking Christ.
