I Knew a Priest Who Could See the Dead
ChurchPOP ^ | 2014 | Fr. Dwight Longenecker

Posted on 10/25/2014 9:19:13 AM PDT by millegan

I’ll call him Fr. John. He was a charismatic Anglo Catholic priest.

A friend of my brother Daryl’s we’ll call Henry died suddenly in a plane crash and he was upset because although Henry was a believer he was away from God when he died.

So Fr. John said, “We have to have a requiem Mass for Henry.”

They went into church and locked the door for privacy’s sake. Another priest we’ll call Fr. George celebrated the Mass.

Henry was about twenty years old. He was just over five foot tall with a shock of blonde hair and a wide face with freckles.

“Details... da debble is in ‘em.”

And in the hearts and minds of anti-Catholic FR posters as well.

“Sometimes He does.”

Thanks for proving my point.

“But he never commands it or justifies it.”

He doesn’t have to do either. He still worked through them.

“Why can’t the Catholic church leave the dead to rest in peace?”

The saints are at peace - they are in heaven with God.

The existence of sinful popes only proves that men are sinful.

The existence of sinful popes Luther only proves that men are sinful.

The existence of sinful popes only proves that men are sinful.

The existence of Luther only proves how far off track your chosen religion had gone.

If someone asks me a genuine question, that’s one thing.

Does someone need the Roman Catholic Church to enter Heaven?

A yes or no will suffice.

That still doesn't explain the spirit but rather the flesh. Spirit and flesh are divided at death and reunited later.

No, the existence of Luther only proves how far off track Luther went. He was a heretic.

“COUNTER Reformation”

Protestant-speak. The only reformation was Catholic and Luther never participated in it.

Ask the question correctly and I might give you a yes or no answer.

Yes, spirit and flesh are divided at death. The dead who hear the voice of the Son of God are spirits, not dead bodies, and when they hear His voice, He draws them to Himself and thus to Heaven. Intercessory prayer for the spirits of people who have died is a privilege of Christians.

We have visited several battlefields and I always get a creepy feelings but I have never seen anything. Custers Last Stand Battlefield was the worst. We lived in Yorktown VA for 2 years and I drove across the battle field every day and never saw anything.

Custers last stand was in Virginia?????

Too much in Catholicism depends on contacting the dead and seeing apparitions.

those who aren't strong enough Christians and can't make it as Catholics often badmouth those of us who can.

You stated...."those who aren't strong enough Christians and can't make it as Catholics often badmouth those of us who can".....

Fortunately Jesus is fully satisfied that we as Biblical Christians 'follow Him' and not a church organization/system and it's leadership such as the catholic church.

Jesus chided the religious leaders of that day..(scribes and Pharisees) for establishing many legalistic traditions that sidelined God's actual commandments as the catholic church does and teaches.... He said: p> ...."Thus you have made the commandment of God 'of no effect by your tradition.... Hypocrites!.... Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: ....'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, and honor Me with their lips, but their heart is far from Me..... And in vain they worship Me, 'teaching as doctrines the commandments of men'" (Matthew:15:6-9

Catholicism is much about...."All their works they do to be seen by men" (Matthew:23:5). For which Jesus castigated them,.... "Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness" (verse 28).

Biblical Christians have a relationship with Jesus Christ...Those who 'claim' to be Christians simply wear the cloak to cover over what they really are about.

Jesus further warns us against "traditions taught by men"...."Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ..... [Why?] For [because] in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.... (Colossians 2:8-10)

And He said to them in 'His teaching' regarding the false religious teachers....., "Beware of the Scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation." (Mark 12:38-40)

Traditions of men...

Catholic Priest Performing a wedding....before a dead corpse

This behavior is not of God, rather it's an affront to His Holiness

You proved me wrong, the Catholic Church was indeed mentioned in the Bible.

...”at least they believe. Our good Lord sorts it all out in the end, doesn’t He?”....

In the end it will be too late for those who have rejected Christ. The wheat and tares grow together currently but there does appear to be a sifting now from those who are Biblical Christians and those who simply claim to be Christians. As this continues you will see a “narrowing” of the road His true sheep are on for they hear His voice and follow Him. With this you’ll see a “widening” of the road that leads to destruction for the “many” that will and do now walk that road.

It’s not enough to believe...even satan believes that God is and fully knows who Jesus is. Salvation comes from committing to Jesus ones very heart, soul and mind and accepting the Good News He paid for our sins.

Well they, along with others, are certainly represented. That road is “wide” and “many” travel on it.

The thing about delusion and deception is people will stay with it no matter how insane it is and no matter the evidence provided.

N. Korea is a good example as well....and the few there who see the truth about it’s leadership are too afraid to speak out....same with many who are joined with the catholic church though I see it more as a “popular” organization people like to belong to to. But the leadership enjoy the power and the wealth.

I recently heard some interesting things about “mother Teresa” I have yet to check out. That she had millions stashed away...and she was very troubled about her salvation...had no peace and was terrified of death. I need to check further on this but I had heard of this when she first died ....so might be interesting to check further when I get time.
