What heaven's really like-by a leading brain surgeon who says he's been there: Read his testimony
The London Daily Mail ^ | October 17, 2014 | Dr. Eben Alexander

Posted on 10/17/2014 10:38:34 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

When I was a small boy, I was adopted. I grew up remembering nothing of my birth family and unaware that I had a biological sister, named Betsy. Many years later, I went in search of my biological family, but for Betsy it was too late: she had died.

This is the story of how I was reunited with her — in Heaven.

Before I start, I should explain that I am a scientist, who has spent a lifetime studying the workings of the brain.

My adoptive father was a neurosurgeon and I followed his path, becoming an neurosurgeon myself and an academic who taught brain science at Harvard Medical School.

Although nominally a Christian, I was sceptical when patients described spiritual experiences to me.

My knowledge of the brain made me quite sure that out-of-body experiences, angelic encounters and the like were hallucinations, brought on when the brain suffered a trauma.

And then, in the most dramatic circumstances possible, I discovered proof that I was wrong. Six years ago, I woke up one morning with a searing headache. Within a few hours, I went into a coma: my neocortex, the part of the brain that handles all the thought processes making us human, had shut down completely....

That is my point.

There are many translations of the Bible. I doubt you or I could read the original.

I may not be able to quote verse...but as long as I can get the concept of what was being spoken, and understand, and live my life in a Godly a manner as possible...I wonder if God cares if I can quote scripture.

A couple points force me to disregard this account, from a Christian perspective:

* “Although nominally a Christian, I was sceptical when patients described spiritual experiences to me.”

Only believers in Christ can enter heaven (Matt. 18:3). “Nominally” means “in name only”, or not truly a believer.

Does that leave open the possibility that non-believers may see heaven in a vision, without actually entering it? Matthew 13:11 seems to suggest otherwise, but it may be possible for them to see such a vision, while not being shown the “mysteries of Heaven”.

* “Her message went through me like a breath of wind. It’s hard to put it into words, but the essence was this: ‘You are loved and cherished, dearly, for ever. You have nothing to fear. There is nothing you can do wrong.’”

This message is completely out of character for a heavenly being to deliver to a non-believer. Non-believers are instead warned of the consequences of their sin and disbelief, and never told that they can do no wrong. That would, in fact, be a lie, and so it could not come from God, or God’s heavenly servants.

“What I was confused about, was he said nominally, he was a Christian. I don’t know exactly what that means.”

If he is using the word correctly, it means “in name only”, or in other words, not actually a Christian.

Well, that is what I thought too. I was just trying to be diplomatic about it. I don't doubt he saw something, but it looks like he has been deceived. I hope he finds the truth before he checks out for good.

The bible makes it clear that unsaved people do not go to heaven. See Luke 16:19-31 is just one example. What’s more, the unsaved go to hell.

Conclusion: Deception of “the flesh.” He wasn’t really dead.

This guy’s a fraud. He hadn’t worked since 2007 because of malpractice suits and over his falsifying of medical records. His story is is a bunch of cobbled together bullshit designed to pay the bills. Don’t buy it.

“It has been tampered with by man for centuries. But I do believe the original intent has remained.”

This makes no sense from any angle. Any god who cannot get his absolute word out is no god. Any word that has been tampered with is not THE word.

1 Corinthians 2:9
But as it is written: “Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.”

...I wonder if God cares if I can quote scripture.

Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

John 6:28-29
Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?
Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

1 John 3:21-23
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.
And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.

James 1:27
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I don't doubt he saw something, but it looks like he has been deceived.

It happens all the time:

Galatians 1:8
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse!

2 Corinthians 11:14
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

Her message went through me like a breath of wind. It’s hard to put it into words, but the essence was this: ‘You are loved and cherished, dearly, for ever. You have nothing to fear. There is nothing you can do wrong.’

Liberal heaven. Seductive pseudo spirituality that makes the death of Christ inconsequential.

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)

Because each person’s experience of heaven seems to be relative to what knowledge is actually in their memory, I think we should pray for this man so that he surrenders his life to the Son.

People are so afraid of the Truth and go out the Way to avoid Him. Today, so many are their own god.
