Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

Pope kissing Koran

YOUR pope kissing the koran. Fits right in with YOUR Catechism of the Catholic church.

"The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day."330

When I saw that man on tv praying to Mary, I knew we had been right all along.

All along. That must be code for "Since 1517."

Mind reading, again? Never crossed my mind. Y’all say you do not pray to Mary but I saw it with my own eyes.

I must say all of the art work displayed here - from ancient cultures to the beautiful door of a cathedral in San Francisco - has been a joy to my eye. It convinces me anew how much beauty Catholic culture has brought to the world - even if there is a very small part of the worldwide population who can’t see it, understand it, or appreciate it. I can’t help but think of Bernard Berenson (a Jew!) who catalogued great Catholic art into his famous books.

Of course, I do believe that Catholocism has adapted ancient art into its own customs and cultures. It is, at heart, a very old, sophisticated religion.

It’s an objective fact that can be seen by anyone.

Is it now? Seems to me that for anyone to make such a charge they have to make a huge assumption by imputing motive to the person doing the bowing. Or in FR parlance: mind reading.

In any event I think this is all covered under the first commandment. My list says the second covers taking the lord's name in vain. Somewhere along the way the order and content got switched. So, unless the Catholic bowing to a statue is worshiping the material the statue is made of or deifying the individual represented, I think we're okay. Thanks though.

Bowing is bowing and forbidden by God, in the Ten Commandments. Even if the Catholic church DID edit them for its own convenience.

No, it doesn't. Because the commandment isn't about motive, it's about actions.

God says do not make an image and do not bow down to it.

The actions posted are both having made an image and bowing down before it.

Motive does not come into it.

I'm making no assumptions about their motive. I can see their actions.

Exodus 20:4-5 Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not adore them, nor serve them: I am the Lord thy God, mighty, jealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me:

So for all those Catholics who admit that they *adore* Mary, even while they deny worshiping her, they are STILL breaking the second commandment.

Why don’t they see that? Bowing to anything is wrong. The Bible says so. That is enough for me.

I'm a condemned soul according to the other poster.

you STILL haven't answered a very easy question:

It's YOUR chosen church. Does IT claim that is enough?

Christ gave the Catholic Church the command. Who am I to argue with how He wants it done. Not my problem though Take it up with Him.

You've got Rome's teachings down pat!

If only that were so.

You may now show where it's NOT so; if you wish, that is.

People don’t like to admit that they’ve been wrong about something they’ve believed their whole lives.

Better to rationalize it away than confront the truth...

The problem is I've seen what Protestantism has done to us over the last 500 years and its simply not equipped to deal with this.

Boo double HOO!

When (if ever) are you going to ADMIT that it was problems in the leadership of your chosen religion that CAUSED men to come up with PROTESTS in the first place?

Ya really think that Luther had nothing better to do than to IMAGINE those things he nailed to your doors?

Only the Church has the divine promise of perpetuity until the end of the world.

There were SEVEN Catholic churchs mention in the Revelation to John.
