Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Posted on 09/11/2014 11:19:06 AM PDT by Jan_Sobieski

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

Please show where the apostles taught the concept of "denomination".

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

If you can't show that they taught it please explain your instance that one align oneself with a " denomination".

It really wasn’t that difficult to see that one post was for comparison purposes. The statement at the beginning of the post “Papua New Guinea Tribes “venerate” their dead similar to that of catholics....” served as a hint of that to me.

See the letters of Paul to various early churches. The apostles recognized differences in the way churches approached their faith. Some were good, some were a mix, and some were out of bounds as time went on.

See Revelation 2-3. These have been viewed as ‘types’ of churches.

Is there another that says Papua New Guinea? If so, I didn’t see that one.

“So I guess just a few of your popes had; shall we say; personal reasons for ACTING so evil, satanic and deluded.”

So you’re equating yourself to the Pope now?

Now that’s a stretch!

You can’t deny the truth that several Popes committed great acts of evil and selfishness. Instead you accuse Elsie of “equating himself with the Pope.”

Even on Free Republic, we sometimes see posts in the "religion" threads (like this one) , that are just drenched with the stench of anti-Catholicism.    At times, the noxious noise coming from the small but loud anti-Catholic crowd sounds like the shrill shrieking and cacophonous cackling of hideous demons!

When confronted with such blatant and vitriolic anti-Catholicism here, it might be helpful to pause and ask the simple question, "Why are some people so bitterly and vituperatively anti- Catholic?"

I've compiled a brief representative list of some well-known anti-Catholics from both the present and the past to insert here, and I think it might be helpful to consider why these sour-faced folks are/were so anti-Catholic, just like a small number (maybe 20 or so?) of the posters here on Free Republic often are, in their frequently hostile, antagonistic, and usually false / inaccurate posts.

There are many possible truthful answers to that question, of course, and it might be helpful to take a brief time-out here, in order to analyze some of these answers to try to find some of the deeper underlying causes for the often harshly negative views of these anti-Catholic bigots.

Some anti-Catholics (or at least some people who are "anti-Catholic-teachings") are actually "Catholic-In-Name-Only" CINO's, like Pelosi, Biden, Sebelius, Cuomo, Sotomayor, etc., who, like Judas Iscariot, are traitors to the Catholic Church, and reject and oppose her sacred teachings concerning faith and morals (given by God), but who publicly posture, and lie, and pretend they are true Catholics, when they really do not believe or follow the God-given teachings of the Catholic Church.

Some Catholic bashers are themselves former Catholics, who, strangely enough, are often the most bitter, and petulantly acrimonious anti-Catholics of all (as anyone reading some of these threads can readily see), and perhaps their rancorous and acerbic anti-Catholic feelings are due to some slight or hurt (real or imagined) from their past which is still causing them intense pain.

Examine this partial list of some anti-Catholic persons and groups and the pitiful objects they produce, and see if you can find other common attributes or characteristics among them besides just their obvious shared anti-Catholicism, which might have a bearing on the motivations for their anti-Catholicism.    Then we should all do our best to see if a way can be found to help anti-Catholics here and elsewhere to see the light, remove the deep bitterness and the anti-Catholic bias from their souls, and turn to the true Church founded by Jesus Christ, for complete healing and reconciliation.

Aren't the pieces of “Budha” gilded and scattered about as well? I studied under a Sifu who had a portrait in his office of a jeweled box supposedly containing one of Budha’s knuckle-bones.

Go to a Mass; learn something! Then you can speak with more knowledge.

You could go to a “Snake-Handlers’” service or a “Unitarian” Church. You’d learn many things that are just as un-Biblical as what the Catholics teach.

mlizzy - We’ve been to Mass. Then we read the Bible. That’s why we left the Religion, repented and turned to The Lord.

Please take a moment, clear your mind, focus on Jesus alone. Put all thoughts of saints and Mary out of your head and pray only to Jesus. Ask HIM for discernment and cry out to HIM.

If you’re right, there will be no harm. But what if you’ve been wrong all along?

>≥See the letters of Paul to various early churches.<<

All simply local gatherings of the one "body of Christ". The ekklesia (an assembly of those called out) of Christ. Notice Paul simply addresses the ekklesia (those called out) who were in Corinth.

1 Corinthians 1:2 to the assembly of God that is in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus, called saints, with all those calling upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place -- both theirs and ours:

>>See Revelation 2-3. These have been viewed as ‘types’ of churches.<<

No " types of churches" there. Only assemblies of believers "called out" of the world by God who were either erring in one way or another or who were being faithfully to their "first love". Not one indication of " denominations".

We’ve been to Mass.

How often? And did you also go to confession, and attend adoration?

Satan is terrified of the Crucifix. As he is regarding the Rosary.

Satan doesn’t fear an object. He fears Jesus.

Crucifixes, Rosaries and Crosses are dead objects crafted by human hands. A Cross can be a useful tool when you teach the Word but it must not be the “focus” of worship; that position rightly belongs only to Jesus. In the end only true faith in Jesus will overcome evil.

Acts 19: 13-20

Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.

When this became known to the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, they were all seized with fear, and the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor. Many of those who believed now came and openly confessed what they had done. A number who had practiced sorcery brought their scrolls together and burned them publicly. When they calculated the value of the scrolls, the total came to fifty thousand drachmas. In this way the word of the Lord spread widely and grew in power.

By the way did the protestant contingent ever produce a picture of someone licking human remains?

Perhaps most of you don't “lick” human remains, but you do “kiss” them. The term “lick” was used facetiously.

Will you admit “kissing” severed chunks of human bodies is a Catholic custom in certain circles?

>>"Why are some people so bitterly and vituperatively anti- Catholic?"<<

Because the teachings of the Catholic Church is "another gospel" and not what the apostles taught. Therefore those that teach it are to be considered accursed.

Galatians 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

If Catholics would just show where their beliefs were taught by the apostles there would be no opposition.

Raised in an Irish Catholic family and grew up in a old-school Polish Parish.

Is that long enough for you?

Chapter and verse?

It’s a “tradition.” I’m sure it’s covered in a Papal decree.

=============================================================

Did God say He would be with His Church until the end of time?

Did God say He would send the Holy Spirit to guide His Church?

Do you believe God or not?

(By the way, where did the apostles teach that it was okay for you to post on the internet?)

Of course all believers in Christ are part of the body of Christ.

However, it is quite clear, even early in the book of Acts that there were differences in emphases. In Acts 15 it becomes really clear that the practices of the Jewish church were quite different from those of the Gentile church.

And, as I’ve pointed out, there are other differences that become pronounced as we head into the book of Revelation.
