Pope Francis, "If Mary is not your Mother, you are an orphan!"
Charisma News ^ | 9/5/2014 | Jennifer LeClaire

Pope Francis has been a breath of fresh air for many Catholics seeking greater liberty and a growing concern for conservative Christians who take issue with his comments about homosexuality and other cultural issues.

But the pontiff's latest statement is sparking an uproar from believers around the world. Pope Francis sent a tweet Tuesday that absolutely violates the truth of Scripture:

"The Christian who does not feel that the Virgin Mary is his or her mother is an orphan," Pope Francis tweeted.

As of the time I wrote this column it had been retweeted about 4,000 times and many of the responses were in appropriately unkind. It's not appropriate to attack the pope for his beliefs. It's more appropriate to share the truth...

“I know I have eternal life - right now. Do you?”

Presumption, it’s not good for the soul.

Doubting God's promises is what's not good for the soul.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. I and my Father are one. (John 10:27-30)

So you’re equating yourself to the Pope now? That’s hysterical. You’ve spent decades of your life studying theology and hours upon hours kneeling in prayer daily? You know, instead of spending time on the computer bashing a religion with about 1 billion believers.

Somehow I doubt it.

That's a very important photo WVKayaker.....it reveals much for those familiar with what we can surely expect as God moves the nations and the world over these next years....

The further leadership chooses to 'get away' from the unity God has made 'in the Spirit', if they even have that to begin with, the more we're going to see religious leaders seek to implement their own....which is exactly as your photo depicts.

I don't know how the catholic church leadership can unite with those religions which clearly deny salvation through God's son....unless they have chosen unity as their ultimate aim, and this over Christ..... Which could only be with the idea that 'whatever forms' from this unity will need a leadership...which I believe is exactly where this is headed.

The Lord made it quite clear.... whosoever transgresses, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ,...hath NOT God......(2 John 1:9) ...elaborating it's written .....Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ He is anti Christ who denies the father and the Son,.... Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either,..... he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also."....( I John 2:22-23 No doubt with the Popes ecumenical movement, propagating relationships with all the mainline religions, we can expect some sort of religious council coming out of this where there's representation similar to the World Council of Churches on an International Level....

But you cannot ignore Jesus Christ and have Unity...impossible...unless you do ignore him and pay only lip service.

How much scripture in response does one have to post before you see their position?

That's the $64,000 question.

I must admit. I’m really surprised at folks being embarrassed by their religious affiliation. You’d think they’d be proud of it.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Galatians 6:14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Satan is terrified of the Crucifix. As he is regarding the Rosary. The devil does not see a weak Jesus on the Cross. That's why they are used in exorcisms.

Chapter and verse?

Mark 9:42 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.

“It would be the ‘right’ thing to do.”

Perhaps it would seem so to a child.

Psalm 103:8-14 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities.

For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.

You are sure fascinated with this.

It's kind of like watching a train wreck.

However, caww isn't building churches out of dead people, nor traveling on pilgrimages to see the remains and kneel before and pray to them.

I suppose that accusing someone who is exposing something that really ought to be an embarrassment to them, of being fascinated or obsessed by it is typical distraction technique.

But people do see it for what it is.

You tried.

“It seems the ones trolling on this thread are the ones insisting that they cannot err as long as they follow Rome.”

That is no part of Catholic doctrine, nor has it ever been. It is astounding that you could be unaware of that.

“Yet, when confronted with Scripture refutations of their folly, they insist the others are not conforming to their ideas as dictated by Rome.”

Your restatement of others’ remarks is inaccurate in the extreme. No one has made such an argument.

“Scripture is just something taken out of context to use as a springboard for establishing some alleged validity to their traditions of men.”

The FR Religion Forum is a place where liars can ply their mischief freely, secure in the knowledge that it is forbidden here to characterize a lie as a lie.

“Jesus warned us against them!”

Jesus called Satan “the father of lies.”

“not into some manmade institution that requires rote response and blind allegiance.”

There are two inaccuracies in that passage: the Church is not man-made, nor does it ask blind allegiance. You really should investigate those things before you go around spreading…inaccuracies.

“It was Benedict XVI who amended the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) before he became pope.”

Right, because he had authority to act alone, and no one could overrule him. (Man, the things some people believe.)

“…a lie of course”

A lie does not arise from confusion, ignorance, honest mistake, or even sensationalism. Lying is this, no more and no less: “deliberately uttering or causing to be uttered statements known to be false for the purpose of deceiving the listener or reader, or causing visual media to be edited or falsified in such a way as to deceive the viewer.”

“Apparently, Roman Catholics do not believe Jesus is the Creator, either.”

So, I guess here we must assume that the writer is speaking from confusion, ignorance, honest mistake, or sensationalism (hyperbole, in this instance), because the other alternative is not allowed.

“The CCC says…”

The CCC is not Divinely Inspired. It is neither prescriptive nor proscriptive, in that all tenets of faith are grounded in other sources that are Divinely Inspired.

“Pope John Paul II repeated this statement even more clearly…”

John Paul the Hastily Canonized was not speaking ex cathedra. Ergo, Catholics are free to disagree with him on this point. I personally think St. JPII was wrong, although he may have been trying to avoid sparking the sort of Christian genocide seen throughout the region during the “Arab Spring.”

It's kind of like watching a train wreck.

Indeed it is. A child attempting to participate in an adult conversation, "And you see this here, well this looks sort of like this and it has the same shape as this, and so they are kinda sorta the same thing. Blah blah blah." Now that is what is embarrasing.

I suppose that accusing someone who is exposing something that really ought to be an embarrassment to them, of being fascinated or obsessed by it is typical distraction technique.

Is this something new? Some newfound knowledge lost to history until Caww was able to decipher the code and overcome millenia of Catholic suppession and at last bring us the truth? Gimme a break. There's nothing being exposed here. Protestants shouldn't believe their own press. It makes them look like nutjob conspiracy theorists. There's no difference between this and the "9/11 was an inside job" crowd.

There is nothing here to be embarrased about. Maybe protestants shouldn't be interjecting their post-modern revisionist sensibilities into something they don't understand.

Some would call it an obsession, I call it the antics of a child. Which is why protestants support it, disobedient children that they are. They simply don't know what they're talking about. And like the children that they are it is better that they are seen and not heard.
