What’s worse?

Compiling quotes or stating people should roast for not being Catholic?

It was a rare opportunity for you and others to distance yourselves from the fringe Roman Catholic Inquisitors who post here. You missed it.

If you put it on the internet, it’s fair game.

And trying to coerce people into behaving a certain way by accusing them of not acting in a *Christian* manner is manipulation, plain and simple.

You advocated burning schimatics at the stake.

Whatever someone did in the past, like the Salem witch trials, I don’t see anyone calling for a return to that these days.

I’ve seen several Catholics on this very RF long for the days of and return of the Inquisition and now we can add burning schismatics at the stake.

Knowing Catholic history, that well includes former Catholics.

So it doesn’t matter when the last time it actually was done was because the mindset is still alive and well within Catholicism as evidenced by those posts and would still be happening if the RCC hadn’t gotten it’s wings clipped by civil authorities, who are more civil and Christ like, that those advocating burning those who disagree with them at the stake.

And at that point, it does become the business of those at whom that kind of mindset is directed.

It looks like that question was answered before it was asked.

Actually, not so rare an opportunity. Sad to say.

And then they beg us to *come back home* and *cross the Tiber*.

To what?

THAT?????

The loving arms of the Catholic church who treats those who disagree with her in such a way?

No thanks.

When, were the heretic burnings/drownings/ tortured to death murders- ever reconciled by the supposed throne of St. Peter? Good grief, what is good with you? When is your personal convenience, not at play? The Roman Catholic Church has been a deadly farce upon humanity. Jesus does not recognize you. Never has, nor will.

I, for one, will never encourage this sort of talk. I believe the Catholic Church is the one true Church, but do not want to go back to burnings at the stake. I mean, really. The level of rhetoric in this thread is out of control.

I haven’t seen such a request. Not saying you haven’t sent it by FReepmail, but I have a personal policy not to read your FReepmails because of the, shall we say, negative tone that they all seem to have.

Let's see . . . you, a die-hard conciliarist who sees sedevacantists behind every tree, are a creationist even though your beloved "Saint" John Paul II was an evolutionist. Meanwhile, your more traditionalist critics are evolutionists who agree with "Saint" John Paul II on this while disagreeing with him on other issues.

I will never understand you people.

Re your post #49:

I can understand your passion, metmom, but your fears are unfounded. Do you honestly think the current liberal Catholic Church, which is in the process of crashing down into rubble, is ever going to reinstitute the Middle Ages? REALLY???

Come on. Their clergy are a bunch of sprout eating, new age philosophy spouting hippies. They pray with pagans and animists--in front of the latter's own idols. I'm sorry. I'm probably the most anti-Catholic member of this forum, but to me the idea of a resurgent conservative Catholic Church is about as likely as one of the other planets belching out Captain Kangaroo or something. It's never going to happen, any more than Salt Lake City "ruling the world" as some FReepers so fear.

On the other hand, such a world, while far worse in some ways, but actually be superior to our own in others. The Protestant notion of "freedom of religion" (based on the identification of religion as an "offer of salvation" rather than a simple statutory legal system) is in some ways the progenitor of all our troubles today (though this has roots in Catholic/Orthodox chrstianity as well).

Please. Let me know when some limp-wristed, evolutionist, Democrat bishop starts building pyres.

Murderers are often good at rationalizing their actions, as are their defenders. Roman Catholic use of the sword of men (Inquisitions)

I wonder how we could have this big split in the Church when it seems no one bothers to attend except on Christmas an Easter.

I never thought of my self as an extremist...

Big split?

Didn't that happen CENTURIES ago; led by them damned Reformationists?

At LEAST you Catholics are unified and safe in the arms of Mother Church.

Why; there must be 30,000 or 50,000 or even 80,000 of us deceived, misled and or poorly catechized Prots out here; running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Anyone who thinks this thread is merely about liturgy totally misses the boat.

Have I stumbled into an unmarked CAUCUS thread?

Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.

Well; I, for one; am generally interested in the things that are perceived wrong in today's church; and ideas on how to correct the problem(s).

Merely a substantial eccentric rather than a schismatic or a sedevacantist. Why are you bashful about answering the questions? Is it because even Bishop Athanasius Schneider does not and will not associate himself with the schism of dead excommunicated Marcel LeFebvre?

This does to be a much higher level of intelligence thread compared to the never-ending 'angels on the head of a pin' type of thread thread that is usually tossed about here.

Yeah, I don’t get it.

Me; neither.

I'm an interested bystander to this fight, uh... disagreement, and am not privy to all the sublties involved.

Perhaps it would be better for me to merely stand and watch and not root for one side or the other.

(Heck; for all I know, there may be 3, 4 or MORE sides participating in this session by the community of Brothers.)

I hope you guys don't mind if every now and then I steal; uh, BORROW; a keeper of a quote.

Think of it as a souvenir I can show my friends as evidence of my travels.
