I wonder how we could have this big split in the Church when it seems no one bothers to attend except on Christmas an Easter.

If you really feel that way, you can always slip into Catholic Church on any Sunday an see if the shoe fits. No one will know, there aren’t any secrete handshakes, just go in an sit. Stand when they stand and knell the same. Skip communion, no big deal but if it’s for you - you’ll know. Listen an watch.
