Per the Feb. 7, 2012 Pakistan Independent (see first link below), "The current LDS First Presidency Statement of 1978 says specifically mentions Prophet Muhammad as one of the great religious leaders of the world who received a portion of Gods light .
It would appear, therefore, that the Muslim world might be "happy" with either an Obama re-election or Mitt Romney. And, hey, why not? Just look at all the "ecumenical" outreach attempts with Islam made by Mormon leaders in the "ecumenical" link section listed below.
For these past seven years, over a dozen Freepers have been faithful in posting the 25 articles linked below...several of these written by Mormon writers/sources -- and one thread below posted by a Mormon.
* Mormonism: What the Latter Day Saints think of Islam [Indicator of how Mitt perceives Islam?] [Pakistan Independent thread]
* Mitt Romney: "Islam is not an inherently violent faith" [My Note: With this kind of lack of Romney foreign policy discernment, expect MORE Romney foreign policy boo-boos like his comments in the UK @ Olympics]
* Islamic And Mormonism Similarities: Similarities Between Joseph Smith and Muhammad (Written by Brother Andrew, a pioneer missionary leader to typically "closed" countries re: the gospel)
* Islamic And Mormonism Similarities (Same content posted a year later on FR)
* Common Threads between Islam and Mormonism (posted by Freeper poster Kaslin and written by one with an Egyptian heritage)
* Common Threads between Islam and Mormonism (same thread as above -- posted by another FREEPER)

* Mitt Romneys Mormon faith tangles with a quirk of Arkansas history [Washington Post thread]
Yipee for you. Now to the subject at hand...
Hence, you made an open-ended promise that you now refuse to honor...and here I thought the goal would be to encourage others ... first you, and then me, and then others on my ping list...to double our/their August donations...Apparently that wasn't your goal at all...twas simply to come in here with a huff and a puff and all smoke with promises of a full_blown blaze...instead hijacking the thread subject just so you could try to reinforce your personal ad hominens that the mod has to babysit your keyboard by yanking some of your posts on this thread...tainan was right about your tactics after all...
Really? Because I could have SWORN this thread was actually about Mormonism, but maybe you don't recognize that 'LDS' in the title refers to Mormonism.
To me, it is YOU that is spamming this particular thread. But, we humans often project our own issues on to others.
Well, you win, that reply makes no sense.
This is the religion forum, which means religious discussions, not some weird thing you are focused on.
What is your view on mormonism or is it as it appears money is your god.
Indeed...Lds bait & switch as well...
They tell investigators to pray about the Book of Mormon & its content; but MOST of primary Lds doctrines are NOT to be even found in the Book of Mormon!
Oh geez, did I forget to tell you about that ten percent and that coffee thing? Oh well, lets get that baptismal garb on. We'll talk later. I need to make my numbers.
Now I had just left the thread and you pinged me back. You are a liar at best. Well, actually not a very good one since everyone can follow your posting history and donations. You are welcome to look at mine all the way back. It is there.
Now how about getting it done, rather than flapping you lips and spamming threads.
So, has Jim Robinson made you the Chief of thread police without informing other FReepers?
You might want to take a look at the rules for the Religion Forum while you are making threats...it appears that you have broken just about all of them.
Ad Hominems
Whereas posters may argue vigorously for and against beliefs on open Religion Forum threads it is never tolerable to use ad hominems in religious debate because they invariably lead to flame wars when the subject is ones deeply held religious beliefs.
For something to be "making it personal" it must be speaking to another Freeper, personally.
"Protestants are heretics" is not making it personal. "You are a heretic" is making it personal. "Catholics worship Mary" is not making it personal. "You worship Mary" is making it personal. "Mormons worship many gods" is not making it personal. "You worship many gods" is making it personal.
However, when a poster paints with a brush that accuses an entire religion of criminal behavior - his post will be pulled as flame bait. For example, posts that say "Protestants kill babies" or "Catholics molest children" or "Mormons kill non-Mormons" will be pulled. However, if the post is specific about a non-Freeper, I will not pull it. For example "Rev. Doe says abortion and infanticide are not sin" or "Father Doe was convicted for molesting those kids" or "Mormons killed non-Mormons at Mountain Meadows" would not be pulled.
Statements formed as questions are rarely "making it personal."
"Are you a heretic" is not making it personal. "You are a heretic" is making it personal.
Forms of "making it personal" include mind reading, attributing motive, accusing another Freeper of telling a lie (because it attributes motive, the intent to deceive) - making the thread "about" individual Freeper(s), following a Freeper from thread to thread and badgering a Freeper over-and-again with the same question.
The words "prevarication" "dishonesty" "slander" "deceit" "calumny" and "subterfuge" are synonymous with "lie" because they entail intent.
Words such as "false" "error" "wrong" "inaccurate" "misstatement" do not attribute motive and are not "making it personal."
Other words push the envelope of motive but are not synonymous with "lie" for purposes of modding the RF. However, they can be "making it personal" if applied to another Freeper, personally, in such a way the discussion becomes "about" the individual Freeper instead of the issues. Those words include "misrepresentation" "detraction" "disinformation" "distortion" "hyperbole" and "doublespeak."
Another example, calling a group of Freepers "anti-Mormon" attributes motive to them as a group which is not technically "making it personal" - but saying that another Freeper, personally, is anti-Mormon instead of anti-MormonISM is an ad hominem. It is "making it personal."
Another example, a poster may say on an open RF thread that a particular belief, diety, religious authority, etc. is "Satanic." But he must not say "You are Satanic." That would be "making it personal." The Bible is always a legitimate source on the Religion Forum, so a poster might quote the Bible where Jesus called Peter "Satan." If a post serves no debate purpose (flame bait or 'making it personal' by devious means) - it would be pulled."
I have seen challenges made during FReepathons before, and even made one myself earlier this month...I have never seen the kind of hostility that is evident in your "challenge" before. That doesn't seem to be an effective way to convince people to donate to the FReepathon.
Congratulations. I believe that ou will probably be a star at the TrueBlueLosers site.
People who talk about how much money they have to throw around probably don’t and those who can’t stay on point have even bigger problems.
place marker
Jim, if you are gonna celebrate the actions of the FReeper who is using this FReepathon for his own ends, cancel my monthly, including the August donation.
done
Oh, I won’t be posting at the TBL site. I’ll just join the freeloaders here and let you carry the weight.
“Tau,
No matter how many times Mountain Meadow Massacre is talked about, it is the exception and not the rule. You do not have to agree with us, but I wish you would get some of you information about us from somewhere then from those who are not careful with reteaching our teachings.”
Considering the Book of Mormon has been changed more than 3,000 times, and there are so many lies and contradictions within Mormon teachings, I believe it is the Mormons who are not careful with reteaching their own teachings. Your “our” is so obviously a fraud only someone with a cult mentality could believe it. I can dismantle Mormonism in 5 seconds. A Mormon chooses to believe for reasons I cannot comprehend for years and years, teaching others to be similarly deluded, and in so doing lose themselves in false pride and delusion leading to a terrible fate.
“How about you and your posse match my donations dollar per dollar? Are you up for it?”
You forgot to include me on the list, defender of Mormonism. Unfortunately, after losing my job, I live on the edge of an abyss. Perhaps since you are so giving and a much better person than us, you can email me your information so I can deduct a few hundred dollars from your bank account?
Are you up for it?
Among these are no ad hominems or as I usually put it: "discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal."
Words such as "false" "wrong" "error" do not attribute motive.

Ah blow ‘em off, that kind of rise is what Bozos like that go for.
When they got nothin’ nothin’ is all they can dish out...
Withdrawing support is what these guys want at FR. See TBL for the evidence...

Well, PA you have convinced me to withdraw my monthly contributions and end my relationship with FR after all these years.
Good bye
(LOL)
And that is exactly what he wanted you to do. There will be rejoicing at the TBL site today...
Yee HAW!
It's about TIME we got Organized!!

'PAY' or don't 'SAY'PA
Sigh...
Luke 18:11-12 EIV The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed: God, I thank you that I am not like other peoplerobbers, evildoers, adulterersor even like this freeloading Freeper. I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.
Let's see if I have this right:
To get to the highest level of MORMON 'heaven', the powers that be have to check a DONOR's List to see if you DID contribute to FreeRepublic uh, Salt Lake City??
The job of a certain rich engineer produced a good living. He thought to himself, "What shall I do? I have no traction on FR."
Then he said, "This is what I'll do. I will harass those whose message and methods I dislike; who haven't PAID for the Right to Speak!!
-- Luke 12:16-21 (somewhat paraphrased by ELSIE)
Ha ha!
MORMONism is FULL of 'rules' now that members do NOT follow!
The 'rule' of POLYGAMY is NOT an 'exception' and it is FOUND in D&C 132!
The 'rule' of NOT eating meat in warm weather is also NOT an 'exception', but found in D&C 89.

Office of First President & Living Prophet®: August 1st, 2012 VERY URGENT! |
I joined Free Republic as a conservative first and I am a monthly donor. The economy has caused me to be more cautious but I feel that it is a worthy cause for conservatism. I did not join to fight Mormonism although have enjoyed the banter and sometimes try injecting humor.
As to Mormonism I realized it was not for me some forty five years ago. I am proud of that heritage in many ways because of what it gave me in personal achievements. But we were sheltered from the truth of the culture. Would it have been different for me had I been born into any other fundamentalist organization in say, Indiana? Probably not as achieving personal goals are just that, personal.
I cannot cause Mitt Romney to leave Mormonism and become a true conservative. My only prayer is that he does one more flip flop and begins to listen to true conservatives. And here in Utah it makes no difference whether I personally vote for him or write in Sarah Palin.
I respect Jim Robinson for what he has to do to meet the bottom line. I am proud that he came here and spent time with us. I spent yesterday trying to figure out how to pay staff and contractors. It ain’t easy. But my passion for historic preservation keeps me focused just as Jim’s passion for conservatism keeps him focused.
Therefore these incessant battles over religion are silly and petty from my perspective. Nobody knows the truth about anything regarding religion. Nobody!
This assumes of course they are actually freeloaders...
I joined FR as a conservative first also. When I saw the constant proselytizing by the Mormons here, I decided it was time for me to speak up about what I knew based on my lifetime as a member of that organization. ... Then Milt entered the scene. ... I knew that Mormonism would be a huge detriment to his conservative support, I also suspected that his Mormonism would probably serve to make sure that obambi gets re-elected. I started ringing the warning bell as loud as I could, but Repubs chose Mitty anyway.
Since Mitt will secure the nomination by all accounts, I’ve backed off my posts on Mormonism for now. In my opinion it doesn’t help our cause. I personally don’t want to help Obummer secure the election, but I also don’t want Myth in the White House. I will write in Palin, or vote for Gary Johnson. It won’t make any difference, Mitt will carry Utah, and I get to make my protest vote.
FR is a pro-God (the one true Judeo-Christian God, of course), pro-life, pro-family, pro-small government, pro-liberty grassroots conservative site. Those who know me personally know that I do not object to Romney because of his religion. I object to him because of his thirty some odd year history of advocating for abortion and his solid pro-homo, pro-big government progressive statism. He is after all the author of and chief advocate of RomneyCare which morphed into ObamaCare and $50 taxpayer funded abortion and he also ordered same sex marriage to be the “law of the land” in Massachusetts just like his precious Roe v Wade became the “law of the land” even though neither were legislated or passed legally into law.
I don’t have any use for Mormonism and its false doctrines, but I have even less respect for the hypocritical liar, Myth Romney.
As far as PA Engineer is concerned he’s a long time loyal conservative member of Free Republic who has generously supported this site every quarter for many, many years. This is not his first freepathon challenge and hopefully it won’t be his last.
I hate to lose any loyal members, but I will never be swayed by demands or ultimatums. I reserve the right to stick to my guns on all conservative issues dear to my heart come hell or high water.
I absolutely loathe Obama and what he is doing to this country, but loathe Romney and what he has stood for during his entire history just as much. I will never trust that rat bastard and I will never vote for him or support him, even though I pray with all my heart that the usurping Marxist Barack Obama is sent packing by the American citizens.
I also think there may be something to the charges of spamming. No one likes spam and it doesn’t appear to be very effective anyway. That and the personal attacks from all sides on these threads are simply great turnoffs.
Thank you all very much for your participation, support and patience.
Thanks Jim! I agree.
“You sadly are “false”, “wrong”, and in “error”. I came here because your posse was spamming many non-religious threads relating to Romney’s trip to Israel and Poland. Many longtime Freepers were becoming very disgusted. Heck, one of the posse spammed a thread fund raising post. I have added you to the posse list per your request. I have made the third donation as promised and probably will again tomorrow. I promise to continue to ping you to the fundraising thread. Let’s get it done.
Nothing previously was addressed to you, but you found it necessary to step in and make and ad hominem attack on me against the religious forum guidelines. If you ping me, I will be back.
Peace.”
And your post was not an attack on Freepers, some of whom are known contributors, on a topic that had nothing whatever to do with them? So you do the same thing you accuse them (us) of, and then whine about it? This is hypocrisy at its finest. Do not “peace” me. I’ll have no peace with someone who thinks it’s okay to attempt (however pitifully) to intimidate other posters simply because you have a misguided political reason for doing so. If you ping me, I’ll ping you back, Mittbot.
Just can’t give it up can you? Pinged me back again. That is OK. I have made my point about your posse. In fact I am heading over to the fund raising thread to continue to help FreeRepublic. When are you really going to make the sacrifice and do the same? If you believe in freedom then put your money where you mouth is. Otherwise cyber bullies are just talk and never walked the walk.

That’s really the problem here. You think this is a game where someone gives up and another wins. You can’t even defend your own actions or false accusations in a rational manner, and then you accuse others of what you are in fact doing. Just like a good lib!
