I'm starting to doubt that the pyro alone burned down great white..
The camera cuts away right as the the started. We missed it. And apparently they are not hot enough to a gasoline soaked rag on fire.
That thing looked juiced up to burn.

Thanks Slip, I for one have had enough "isolated incidents" for one day.

Industry in general has been taking too many "cost cutting" short cuts & it's coming home to them.
Esp. the oil folks, everythings being contracted out to the lowest bidder who hire's local idiot kids to do what used to be done by well trained & careful old men.

really don't think that Al Qaeda figured out how to infiltrate an over-the-hill rock band to torch a third-rate roadhouse Well, there are quite a few people who think Al Queda has infiltrated Sesame Street. A rock band would be a piece of cake as far as the tin foil crowd sees it.

You must admit, it is odd. I've not done the math, but it's safe to assume the probability of these three fires (plus whatever else) is not zero, but as I wrote to another poster, we're way, way out on the probability curve. These incidents taken with the ever-looming war in the ME, terrorism and the whole oil connection, it is, um, odd.

It wouldn't be that hard to figure out which bands used pyro, and plant an arsonist in the crowd, or even work as a backstage tech to spice up one of the pyro displays. Thinking as a terrorist, nightclubs have always been popular targets, look at many nightclub bombings in a number of countries. One of the largest death tolls ever in the country, after OKC, was the Happy Land Social Club fire, which killed ~100 people. Another Freeper pointed out how rapidly yesterday's fire spread. I wouldn't race to rule out an attack. Besides, there's the possible propaganda point of the name. "American" and "United" airlines were attacked on 9-11. If you wanted to destroy America, wouldn't "Great White" make a good target?

"A 50-count federal indictment accuses Sami Amin Al- Arian, 45, a University of South Florida engineering professor, and seven other alleged Palestinian Islamic Jihad members of criminal racketeering, money laundering, conspiring to kill and maim people abroad, extortion, visa fraud, perjury and other charges. The defendants all face life in prison if they're convicted." Hmmmm....8 "alleged" Pal Islamic Jihad members are arrested yesterday and there are at least two "accidental" oil plant fires today...yep must be a coincidence...or just maybe we still have an Orange Alert...

But what will the Earth Firsters say about all that air pollution?
To: freeperfromnj
That's 3 in a five hour period.
Once again, had they occured in August 2001, I don't think the Midland TX fire or a trash fire near San Diego would have gotten a mention on the National News, and quite possibly would not have even been posted on on FR.

but, like the shark attack stories of a couple of summers ago, it might simply be a normal number of events that are suddenly getting media attention and therefore get noticed for a change. That's what I'm thinnin'.

....many are black, Asian, even white. Didn't Bin Laden say something about a firey America in one of his messages?
