I am a IT consultant for a Fortune 500 manufacturing plant.

They have an area that has a fire at least once a week and that is counted in those national statistics. A couple other area have fires once a month or so. The Fire Department must respond as a safety precaution.

Most industrial fires are small and due little if any damage, but they are common and reported. Major burns are much less common, but happen.

Maybe it's just the tinfoil talking, but it seems like there's too many mysterious industrial accidents lately to all be accidents.

It is certainly true that if fires never occurred in bunches, they wouldn't be random. But I wouldn't exclude looking for terrorism, especially given other large fires around the country in the last two days.

I'm sorry, I didn't know that we already knew for a fact it wasn't terrorism. I didn't even know one could exclude the possibility before the fire investigation was wrapped up. Is it?

Yes, the people in attendance saw the fire started by the pyrotechnics which the rock band used. The fireworks lit some structures in the ceiling and the roof collapsed.

I know, but I've been working all day and everywhere around the nation there has been fires; I needed some levity. It's how I deal with the world in my mind, Lord knows I would never say anything like that at work.

I wouldn't rule out a few "Johnny Jihads" taking matters into their own hands. Remember the Homeland Defense warning about "insiders" planted inside major industries?

Here's another thought, Wasn't the National Threat Warning supposed to come -down- from the current Orange Alert status in a "few" days? That story was floating around last weekend.

It would be nice if the media and the government would do some followup and give us the full story......

This SD fire is in a recycling plant, not a refinery. Change your mind? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes.

to clarify & for further future laughs, folks here actually got this worked up over a common TRASH FIRE AT A DUMP. The goal of terrorists is to periodically create an incident of mass hysteria such that subsequent events of trivial nature serve as a perpetual reminder and rely upon the gullibility and naivite of the subject populace. With a day for some hindsight and, hopefully, a little clearer, more rational thinking, hopefully folks will take not of these unrelated events and, down the line, remember that fearmongering over a TRASH FIRE AT A DUMP is not only silly beyond belief, it just helps to further the terrorists' evil deeds and objectives.

Yes, a trash fire is light years different than another refinery fire would have been...
