The Nightclub fire: I'm iclined to agree with you ...maybe arson...exits were locked??? Who would normally lock or unlock them?? Inside job??

I think the egg crates created the fire. According to a pytrotechnic guy on FOX, a jerb (sp?) could not have started this fire. You can put your hand on a jerb and not get burned.

maybe arson...exits were locked??? I've heard nothing about locked exits at the Nightclub fire. Are you thinking of the Chicago club that had the stampede? There, four exits were locked. Or, is there a story about locked exits in the Rhode Island fire now?

Exits were not locked. Appeared to be clearly marked (but there was so much thick black smoke within about 2 minutes, you couldn't have seen them). The exit hardware had been replaced on one door in Dec. and all were reported to be in good working condition after that.
The only problem with the doors was one report that the bouncers at first didn't understand what was going on and were trying to keep people from using the emergency exits--they were reportedly trying to push the crowd back at first.
