I think Amnesty is just a formality. Illegal aliens can live here their entire lives without much fear of being deported. When they are deported they just come back.

Not since WWII has our nation been in such peril. But do we REALY understand that? I think Mr. Bush does. President Bush has done absolutely nothing to remove the enemy from within our borders. He was surprised that the INS is still allowing terrorist into the country - yet he has not implemented one policy to prevent this. His lack of action with respect to immigration and protecting our borders is deplorable and inexcusable.
Its home grown liberals who came up with this crap in the first place!
The Republican are equally responsible. Dick Armey and team have pushed through legislation on increases in the H-1B visa program to allow so many foreigners in this country that any American engineer that was laid off last year has no hope of being able to find a job.

Mr. Z, I'm with you. In fact, on Wednesday when this Amnesty fiasco became news, I sent an email to the RNC (as well as returned their junkmail requesting a donation)and informed them to remove me from their database. From now on, I will consider myself an Independant and will re-register as such. The RNC will get NO MORE of my money or support!! The problem with the Republicans and Democrats is that THERE IS NO POLITICAL WILL to address the issue of Illegal Immigration. These political "HACKS" are more concerned with getting re-elected than addressing the invasion of illegal opportunists into this country. That PC Leftist BS has soured all critical discussion regarding the defense of our national borders/sovereignty shows their contempt for this nation. The real question is, "Why is President Bush catering to the great Vincente Fox?". It's pathetic to see the leader of the free world acting like a lap dog for a 2-bit sheister from a third world PIT OF A COUNTRY. Our great allie Mexico....What a joke!!! When was the last Time Mexico sent troops in support of ANY U.S. military deployment? As a local radio DJ once said, "At least Mexico could send us one barrel of oil a day for every illegal in the U.S. That would help offset all the money they suck up in Social Services and monetary support". To that I say, "WORD!!!".

Exactly. Is Bush giving payback to the businesses that gave him money? Is rice white? Corporations are hiring immigrants at below minimum wages. I lived in WalMart country in 1991. It was well known that you did NOT apply for certain jobs at Tyson Foods, only for office positions. It took ten years, but the truth about them hiring illegals at pitiful wages finally came out. This is happening in the construction industry as well. In LV, there were 9 illegals scanning your carry-ons thru security. And they're protesting now because they have the right to not be descriminated against because they're illegal! It's rampant in this country! Anyone who believes that old bromide that illegals do the jobs that Americans won't do is totally uninformed. This is why the EC's support all forms of immigration. This is why Bush does NOTHING about the problem but make it worse! Whole companys would be empty if the illegals were sent packing. This is the simple truth. I campaigned for Bush, I voted for Bush but I'm not blind or deaf like so many on this forum. I doubt he'll get my vote again unless he changes his Free Trade mania/illegal alien cheap labor force stance.

Very well thought out.
I often wonder if the "Drag them back over the border" group ever considers what this would look like to the rest of the country.
I wonder if they even care.

I disagree with you with respect to pretty much your entire post. I will however address just two points about this amnesty:
1. A terrorist could have entered the United States illegally within the last several years, found a U.S. citizen or resident alien to marry, and be given a "green card" and eventual citizenship, under this amnesty. This amnesty has no provision for background checks. So vis a vis the current war the amnesty is an unacceptabe and potentially catastrophic security risk.
2. All amnesties encourage more illegal immigration. Putting aside the issue of deportations and numbers of legal immigrants, this nation will never solve the issue of illegal immigration by giving amnesties to illegals and by facilitating the employment of illegals.
Our nation is witnessing a complete abdication of responsibility by our elected government in their refusal to enforce the current immigration laws. Such abdication is a slap in the face and mocks not only all immigrants who patiently submit to the current U.S. immigration system but to all Americans who strive to obey the laws of this nation.

I often wonder if the "Drag them back over the border" group ever considers what this would look like to the rest of the country. According to most recent polls most Americans agree: Drag them out of here and let them stand in line and pass muster like the rest of 'em who followed the rules and were admitted...if they were found to be acceptable.

Drag them out of hereExactly which poll said those exact words?

You made a mistake in that you served a well prepared meal to those that only eat raw meat while fighting, snapping and snarling over every scrap. The word "reasonable" is not in their conceptual grasp. Good work anyway.

The immigrants--illegal or legal--are not voting--and never will vote--Republican or conservative. It is suicide. They are a natural base for the leftists. They provide an incredibly-ballooning "client base" for the big Federal give-away programs. Illegals are voting--never doubt it--and if legalized they will continue to vote for the Dems.
Suicide. Suicide. Suicide for the Republicans. Suicide by demographics. Suicide for conservative causes. Suicide for America.
Amnesty is a great idea...if you happen to like Atzlan and the Reconquista. Do you suppose amnesty will discourage yet more from entering illegally?...Do you doubt that in a few years, after we have a few million more illegals, that there will be yet another amnesty?
Suicide.

Your point seems to be that we are at war therefore we should reward foriegn criminals. I am having a difficult time following your inductive reasoning.
Truth is I do understand. My understanding is that this is the worst attempt at justifying one of Bush's actions I've seen.
Nice try though. Defending the indefensible is a difficult task.
Borders? We don't need no steenkin borders!
Buenos noches

In "those exact words"? Well, I'm not aware of any that indicate the support of any sort of amnesty for illegal aliens. The disaster of 1986 did more than enough damage to the nation.
To: Pharmer
Yes, we are in real danger. And it is the danger within that most threatens us. We cannot even protect our own borders. And now the Bush Administration wishes to legitimize those who flout our laws. I am not buying it.
To: Tancredo Fan
But you said
According to most recent polls most Americans agree: Drag them out of here...
Just checking to see whether you knew what you were talking about or if were you putting your slant on it.

I have to disagree with you. It wasn't a nice try. It was pretty silly, really.
