Detectives are preparing to speak with Alex Batty about his alleged kidnap and escape from life in a 'nomadic' commune in France, as the teenager wakes up in the UK for the first time in six year
The 17-year-old flew from France's Toulouse Blagnac airport to Amsterdam yesterday before finally touching down in Manchester last night, escorted by police officers.
The teenager, who vanished when he was 11, was seen walking off the plane with a skateboard tucked under his arm before being whisked away for an emotional reunion with his grandmother, whom it is understood he will live with.
Susan Caruana, who lives in Oldham, has been searching for her grandson since he allegedly kidnapped by his mother, Melanie Batty, and grandfather, David Batty after failing to return from a pre-agreed trip to Malaga.
Alex's return to British soil marked the end of a long journey after he was found on Wednesday by a delivery driver escaping life in a 'spiritual community' in the French Pyrenees.
Yesterday evening, Greater Manchester Police said they were yet to speak with Alex about his disappearance.
The force said it would speak with the boy 'at a pace that feels comfortable with him' to determine 'how he may have been doing, and where he has been, over his years missing'.

Some former detectives are saying the resources to do so and to catch the mother would be too great to justify and they should consider the matter closed?
All's well that ends well, etc.
Lived with his own mother. Apparently in good health. What kind of “kidnapping” was this, really?
I wonder what the mom did for money all these years?

There's even an escaping participle involved. Looks like even the student who was delivering medicine was determined to get out.
This story is becoming more peculiar than it already is.
Re the grandfather:
A neighbour, who gave his name only as Sebastian, said: 'Peter is not dead. I saw him a week ago, maybe ten days. He was mowing the grass in front of the Gite.'I know this because my mum's dog loves him. She is a white border collie and he throws a stick for her.'
The tails a dog could tell! He herd it from a border collie. They know their jobs. Border collies *live* for the total round up.
Interesting details from the very beginning, as the mother and grandfather absconded with the kid on Sept 30, 2017, which was Yom Kippur.
Why would this have anything to do with Jewish holy days? The way I see it, everything has to do with Jewish holy days. Who can say who has Jewish soul hidden inside, eager to go up and out, wanting to shine? Based on Fabian's actions, it's not much of a disguise.

The version that focuses on converts teaches an important lesson: that converts are just as Jewish as those who are born that way. What Does It Mean that Every Soul Was at Mount Sinai When We Received the Torah?
Custody battles can be rough.
Accusations flying from both sides.
I thought I had read that it was some sort of cult.
But then it was her telling the son at the time, that they were going to move on to Finland, stated as the reason why he had decided to walk away.
Six months later, in winter, after she had supposedly already left for Finland?
Who needs to mow grass in December in the Pyrenees?
Apparently Peter does..
Geez after all of that I really do feel a song coming on:
Here’s a retired detective basically there is a law but he thinks the police shouldn’t do anything:-

Yes it’s a crazy story. I’m sure grandma’ will cash in and top up her social security at some point :-)
A commune presumably they look after each other.
I read one report that said that grandad did odd jobs around the village
Seems crazy they can just live a nomadic lifestyle like this in France.
Itās rural France, you can do that. Itās not the dystopian hell of Brandonās rule.
This region identified in the story...about 20 miles by 60 miles is mostly mountainous, rural, and has some various groups who function as cults.
The 12 Tribes group is one of them. A couple function under the doomsday concept. There’s the Cathar Castle group...operating under an agenda leading back to 1200’s crusade agenda.
French authorities claim some BS over this kid will give them new fresh information to start a anti-cult campaign. I doubt if anything comes out of this. In this region, no one talks much or respects French authority.
One strange aspect of this story...the kid had suggested in one story...he left because the family was going to re-locate to a new cult region in Finland (never saying where exactly in Finland). It’s been around thirty years since the last big-name cult was run out of Finland (was some group claiming American-Indian status...trying to live off the land and sell wellness weeks).
Kid apparently didn’t buy off on the move to Finland. Might be curious to hear how this was being ‘branded’.
Yeah it’s interesting... I almost hanker for such an existence
From what I understand his mother lost primary custody of her son and his grandmother (not sure if maternal or paternal) had primary custody.
Not sure why this happened but the mother and the grandfather were evidently deeply involved in some sort of nomadic crunchy Gia worshipping hippy cult.
But there was some sort of custody arrangement that allowed his mom and his grandfather to take the boy on a 2-week holiday from which they never returned, going off grid as it were.
From what I read they moved frequently, and the kid was given no formal education and goodness knows what else he endured.
When his mother told him they were going to move yet again to Finland, now at age 17, heād decided heās had enough of this lifestyle and wanted to go back home to England and to his grandmother, get an education and live what he said was āa normal lifeā.
Unrelated to this story... my wife passed away on September 30th, 2017.

Alleged kidnap
Lived with his own mother. Apparently in good health. What kind of ākidnappingā was this, really?
*******
Mom had lost custody. Grandmother had legal guardianship which includes custody. Mom took kid on vacation with guardian’s permission, did not return as expected, which then transforms into parental kidnapping. At 11 years old, the kid is helpless to do anything about it. Mom had his passport, kid didn’t have a phone, etc.
If itās anything like here, itās not providing state money vis federal dollars to someone. So the state isnāt getting its cut nor his guardian.
They will use this leverage for him to make their statement. CPS can be like a kidnapper terrorist. I am sure itās no better there.
The German family whose kids were kidnapped and terrorized for the high crime of being homeschooled.
The state is not giving up their control over childrenā¦ it is through them they change the culture into whatever the state desires.
Such nice teachers
I have wondered about the epigenetic changes which occur from institutionalizing children.
