Because, unlike ICE based vehicles, EVs are potential unquenchable toxic fire bombs.

Because insurance companies have experienced the costs of extra external damage caused by essentially molten batteries burning out of control. Water just don’t work.

It’s pretty brilliant. Kinda like health insurance.

’Our Tesla insurance is DOUBLE what we pay for our gas car!' ***** snip ***** so why DO insurers penalize eco-drivers?

There are several pretty good reasons cited for this, but one glaring omission: because they can get away with it.

Since electric cars have fewer components, when one does fail its more expensive to replace.

Oh, come on. I guess that if I wanted to buy insurance for a rubber ball, the cost would be so high that I couldn’t afford it because there are so few components? Sheesh…

"....Cherish your old car and drive it forever!! ...."

We have leased cars for a long time; for us the benefits outweigh the negatives.

I currently have a 2021 BMW 545i with only 17K on the clock and the lease is up in 2 months. For the first time ever, I and the missus are going to exercise our right to buy the car.

We can buy the car, with 17K miles, for $40K, about half the price of a new one.

If we turned it in, the dealer could sell it for $60K.

This car will easily last 25 years with proper maintenance; one of the benefits of BMW over-engineering.

It is already here:

I have 1976 1 ton 4 speed dually Chevy truck that I have not driven in a year ++..

Drove it yesterday to make sure it is running right in case my 1979 Buick wagon that is going into the shop tomorrow for brakes/wheel bearings, etc will be down for a number of days.

We have to fill out our odometer reading when registering every year. 2022 truck miles==0

I pay $69 a month for truck insurance

I pay $68 a month for Buick—and I put less than 3000 miles on it last year.

I noticed how rates went up when Katrina hit & then again when Texas flooding killed so many cars.

I live rural-—retired-—but cannot let go of truck-—Have horses & NEED it to tow trailer if I have to take one to Vet.
Buick cannot tow 4 horse trailer.

ADD the cost of repairs when an UNINSURED person hits you.

UNINSURED==ILLEGAL INVADERS

Although I hate to admit such, I did a brief stint in P&C insurance.

Rates are regulated by state. Here I’ve seen no such increases which might reflect the spreading of EV risk, but I assure you that it’s coming to all of us.

Otherwise, that alone will be the nail in the EV coffin, and the traitors won’t let that happen.

Are you in NE ?

I read about that hail incident. I used the google street view tools on the web and cannot find any recent images of that array. The last images were before it was built, circa 2019.

I have the ability to weather an extended outage with some 42 kw of storage. Can go off grid without much change in lifestyle. Now an EMP is my worst fear. Hit or miss what survives or fries.

Gilead has had some kind of copay card to offset costs of their PREP meds and probably their hiv meds too.

Out of curiosity, I asked my insurance agent about the “discount” for putting in one of their tracking boxes. She said she always advises against it due to loss of privacy. She also told me that the “discount” typically worked out to about $20 a year.

Why, you may ask, is Joe Biden chauffeured in a gas powered vehicle? Why do his homes lack solar panels? Why is every US Senator and Congressman and woman chauffeured to work in a gasoline powered car? Biden executives such as Lloyd Austin, Deb Haaland, Mayorkas, Blinken, Merrick Garland, Jennifer Granholm, Peter Buttagig (sp), etc. paid by taxpayers, are driven in gas powered vehicles.
Why is lunch pail Joe Biden requiring Ford, GM and Stellantis to manufacture EV’s, that will destroy thousands of good paying jobs?
It appears a broken middle class, a depression, and total control of our country by Biden communist policies is the goal.

Homeowners in my area have been complaining that their home insurance companies are threatening to cancel their policies unless mature trees surrounding their houses are trimmed back or cut down. The company is analyzing survey pictures & contacting the home owners based on what they’re seeing from the sky.
