The Burning Man Festival is held in the desert of Black Rock City, Nevada. This year's festival opened with a viral video of climate change activists blocking traffic with law enforcement responding.
Now, the controversy has spun into a chaotic scene the festival organizers are declaring a National Emergency. Can a festival declare a National Emergency? That's beside the point right now.
Heavy rains overnight on Friday have transformed the infamously dusty desert site into a muddy mess, trapping over 70,000 attendees. The festival-goers are being instructed to shelter in place and to conserve food and water resources since getting supplies in is not possible as no entry nor exit has been permitted since Friday night. No travelers will be permitted to enter for the remainder of the event, per organizers on Saturday. The pop-up airport known as Black Rock City Municipal Airport has been closed, and only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive.
They’ll be fine. Inconvenienced, but they aren’t gonna die. Might take a few days or more for everything to dry out enough to get their vehicles out. Hope they brought plenty of weed and Doritos

The luciferian and satanist shrines and imagery stuff is kinda wacky. I’m not a church going person, but I find that stuff abhorrent. It does weird things to people to get to that point.
Personally I would prefer that my taxes were NOT SPENT on a bunch of people WHO DELIBERATELY PUT THEMSELVES IN A MUD HOLE!
And just as a matter of interest, I think the solution on the southern border is 50 caliber machine guns (MA DUCE) and lots of land mines.
As for the Ukies, I don’t think we should have ever sent them one bullet or one cent, just as corrupt as Russia if not more so.

So, I guess the road or roads in/out are impassable? Because of a few inches of mud? Geez, around here we have guys and gals with big ATV’s that can handle a foot of mud...
Anyway, there are numerous vids on YouTube, including one of Chris Rock on the truck that picked up his group. Commenters were slamming him left and right for his “privilege”. I was like “what the heck?” The guy walks out 5 miles through the mud and an open truck comes by and gives him and his group a lift, and that’s deserving of scorn?
I don’t think I have any revulsion against Burning Man as an event. I suspect that it was much more of a spontaneously emerging event in its rising - probably very cool, but has succumbed to more of a popularized “I have to do this” thing.
One could envision that had Burning Man suffered these same rain events very early on it would have been relegated to the same place that the infamous Fyre Festival is now.
To me, the great one-time events are the best (worst?)....Woodstock won’t ever be equaled, neither will The Beatles Ed Sullivan Show appearance in 1964.
They’ll forget all about the so-called spirit of the event and find a way to get their road rage on. Good luck, suckers!

Exactly! Our taxes go to the government for things like rescues of folks in need- whether they be they be there out of ignorance or not. Also, the bill is given to the people that caused the need for the help in some cases.

Pictures show lots of chunky people at the festival. A 12 mile forced march with a full pack to escape the mud apocalypse is something my drill instructor would approve.
Would be hilarious if Trump sent in his air fleet to offer free evac once the airport opens.
And having a 4x4 won't do the trick either. I saw a photo of a Jeep Wrangler totally immobilized in the mud out there.
Chris Rock said he and a couple of friends got out riding in the back of a pickup truck.
A rapper by the name of Dua Lipa who got out with him. I saw the video of the riding in the back of the truck. Apparently they had to walk about 5 miles to access a road.
