The Burning Man Festival is held in the desert of Black Rock City, Nevada. This year's festival opened with a viral video of climate change activists blocking traffic with law enforcement responding.
Now, the controversy has spun into a chaotic scene the festival organizers are declaring a National Emergency. Can a festival declare a National Emergency? That's beside the point right now.
Heavy rains overnight on Friday have transformed the infamously dusty desert site into a muddy mess, trapping over 70,000 attendees. The festival-goers are being instructed to shelter in place and to conserve food and water resources since getting supplies in is not possible as no entry nor exit has been permitted since Friday night. No travelers will be permitted to enter for the remainder of the event, per organizers on Saturday. The pop-up airport known as Black Rock City Municipal Airport has been closed, and only emergency vehicles are allowed to drive.

hmmm- if only there were some type of flying hovering air machine with rotary blades to keep it inplace over the area to drop in supplies or sumthin
Airdrop lots of soap.
Doesn’t sound like they will be having much fun there in the desert.
As a straight white Christian heterosexual male that doesn’t smoke and yet lives in a weed state, i have to absolutely agree with you.
Just because a group of people are each wearing an “ I am Unique “ tee shirt, doesn’t mean that they’re all unredeemable. Some just need a good mentor that is unafraid.
Used to be on the mud flats in the East Bay.
bleepstock
Yah, Sewage Festival doesn’t sound like fun.
When I was transferred to Reno for a few years I went hiking there quite a number of times - sure you can climb the mountains into the snow in the area and get quite the exhilarating thrill of it. However hiking solitary into the Black Rock desert is not for everybody, but I loved it. Wanted to be a day visitor to the festival but figured the 70’s would have been a better time as I would have fit right in, these days not so much.
I can’t imagine the place with substantial rain, must be a mudslide without the slide.
Bidenskyyyyyy better get his azz over there and make a speech or he’s going be 45 million ballots short in 2024.
I bet It rained again today
“Ebola rumours are popping up.”
Looks like the next generation of Leftist leaders are having a ‘bad day’.
God has a great sense of humor.
“A modern Woodstock?”
More like the notorious Fyre Festival. Netflix has a good show on it.
Don't start any blasphemous rumors.
Gee I hope they didn’t get their weed all wet.
Ha!
That’s an obscure reference, one you would have needed to be at a very specific place at a very specific time.
IF they were “Self Responsible” they would NOT leave the bicycles they buy to use for the event THERE & force the promoters to hire large trucks to go in & gather them all back up.
Cleaning up afterward is monumental.
Maybe next year.
Drug abuse and overt sexual behaviors are practically requirements at burning man.
Americans used to be much kinder people. While I would never go to the event I would do anything in my power to help these people out if things got rough. Everyone deserves a helping hand when Mother Nature does unexpected things. Delivering food and water if needed before the mud dries out and becomes drivable again is a christian thing to do. Providing air support with help for emergency evacuation for the sick or those in distress is also a christian thing to do. When four wheeling I don’t stop to ask a stuck jeep or truck their politics or religious beliefs. I pull out my chains and hook the the straps to the D-rings on my Jeep and pull them out.
