The End of Affirmative Action Won't Change Much for Them, Some Asian Americans Say

Cecilia Chang bluntly told her two kids: You have to try harder because of who you are. She believed that admission to elite colleges was stacked against Asian Americans — “You’re competing for a very little number of seats with all these qualified Asian kids," she said.

Still, she doesn't think the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling doing away with affirmation action will change much. She supports college officials trying to bring in students from "all walks of life," and she thinks they will find a way to achieve the racial diversity they're looking for. “It doesn’t mean s— to us,” said Chang, who runs a disability-related nonprofit and came to the U.S. from South Korea when she was 13. “I don’t think it’s going to tilt in any one way or the other.”

But like Chang, some Asian Americans believe college officials will find ways to get around the ban and ensure they admit enough underrepresented students, including those in the Black and Latino communities.

Vote Right and your kids won’t have to try harder.

So they interviewed a foul-mouthed activist and we are supposed to be surprised they support the universities going around the law?

Your typical Asian American wouldn’t agree.

Its going to take a lot of lawsuits to get colleges to comply with the SCOTUS decision. Remember, these are evil people we are dealing with and they have no respect for any law or authority that they disagree with.

They have tons of “respect for the law” when the law can be used to draw the noose around the neck of their enemies.

When the law goes against them, it’s “f the white man’s law!”

Weird, thought admissions discrimination ended in the 90s with Hopwood v. Texas when the University of Texas Austin discriminated against white law school applicants by admitting minorities with lower scores just to get their diversity numbers up.

Oh, yeah, because that was whitey getting discriminated against.

Yep. Asians in Silicon Valley were hardcore DEM voters by the time we left in the Fall of 2018. Actually, long before that.

Elite Colleges are no longer what they were cracked up to be.

Best to eschew them in the search for actual knowledge and wisdom.

In SF it’s the weirdest. There are more Asians than gays, but Asians are content to be second class citizens.

Affirmative Action has made blacks weaker and Asians stronger it seems.

One of the admissions questions will be:
What is your favorite sauce?
1. BBQ
2. Soy
3. Ranch

She's right. Schools will do things like remove standardized tests, to avoid any statistical representation of their "unofficial" quotas. They will continue with present policies, and will need to be sued, which not many people will have the time or money to pursue. They will hide behind local courts and laws. There's many ways to do this.

If they don’t want Asians, don’t take foreigners. The schools were built by Americans, why are we educating other countries, especially China.

Every college admission essay from any African-American is going to read like Navin Johnson’s narration of his life (played by Steve Martin) in the movie “The Jerk”.

“It was never easy for me. I was born a poor black child. I remember the days, sittin’ on the porch with my family, singin’ and dancin’ down in Mississippi...”

Today, I received an invite to attend a company meeting where the first part will feature a DEI spiel. Harvard and the rest of academia is vowing to find a loop hole. Corporations in general are having their HR and PR groups put out statements that they remain committed to diversity. A friend of mine sent me one from Johnson & Johnson.

As if nothing has changed.

But is has and here is what they miss.

Prior to yesterday, if you were Asian or White and believe you were discriminated against, it was tough to get traction in Court.

After yesterday? There is now a CLEAR cause of action against any any any policy that discriminates based on race. It won’t stop at higher ed. Oh no. There will be lawsuits against corporate America and they will be numerous.

How do I know? Because lawyers live for rulings like yesterday’s. There are ambulance chasers across this land looking at this as a new plaintiff’s cottage industry.

So hey, corporations out there, you listen to that DEI officer. You hold those diversity conferences and talks. Listen to HR.

But know this, it is no longer a question of the consumer rejecting your product. That can take sometime to bankrupt you. But a class action? Buh Bye!!!
