A fourth wave of coronavirus infections is beginning to mount in states across the nation as health experts and officials beg pandemic-exhausted Americans to stay vigilant.
The United States has reported an average of 65,000 new cases in the last seven days, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), up about 10,000 cases per day since the most recent nadir two weeks ago.

Cases are going up because people are getting back to living. But a smaller percentage of those infected will get seriously ill or die, as most of the vulnerable have been vaccinated. The 7 day average of daily deaths is at the lowest level since early November. That number will slowly decline over the next few months as more and more people are immune.
If we had been more responsible in protecting the elderly and vulnerable from the beginning, far fewer people would have died and our economy would be much better off.
Elected official have had a full year to train personnel and build facilities to deal with the China Virus
Americans should be working up a recall election if they haven’t.

The 7-day moving average has been in the 900s for a week now, with it being in the upper 900s until just yesterday (dropped to 932). Hopefully that downward trend picks up steam again shortly and continues.
Looking at Israel is like looking into the future for us. Their COVID-19 new cases and COVID-19 deaths have been on a nonstop plummet. At the rate we’re vaccinating, we’ll be there in a couple months. For now, even if some areas experience some transient rising in new cases and deaths, I seriously doubt it’ll be anything to write home about. The most vulnerable are mostly vaccinated at this point. If some kids and young adults turn up positive but don’t have any serious symptoms or problems, that’s no big deal at all.

What happens in a year when everyone is Israel starts dropping dead because they messed around with experimental elixirs that change their immune system and how it functions? Sorry I wouldn’t trust medicine made by and promoted by communists. Seems like common sense to avoid it .
Maybe if we blow up the Moon the waves will stop.

They've found a very strong correlation everywhere they've been vaccinating long enough to study.
As the percentage of vaccinated population increases cases decrease (with a lag), and hospitalizations and deaths plummet.
In a year from now, when the people in Israel and the US who got vaccinated are all fine, will you concede that you were wrong?
The fearporn about the Trump vaccines is as bad as the fearporn about COVID-19.
And the vaccines don’t change how the immune system functions. They simply get the immune system prepared to immediately overwhelm an actual infection. And President Trump is not a communist. His Operation Warp Speed gave us these vaccines and he’s been promoting them since December as safe and effective.
And like with pretty much everything, he’s been right about that too. The first recipients of the COVID-19 vaccines got them back in March 2020. They’re fine. Still immune too. Every bit of empirical data we have shows that the vaccines are both safe and effective. If somebody still doesn’t want them, that’s fine. But it doesn’t alter the fact that they’re safe and effective tools to combat COVID-19. They’re as effective as the smallpox vaccine that wiped smallpox off the face of the Earth.

I thought these were untested, experimental gene therapies, not vaccines.
Were the previous coronavirus vaccines you mention similar in mode of action? Why should we think these new therapies will behave like the completely different old ones?

Michigan is showing a very strong 4th wave, and a number of northeastern states a slight (so far) 4th wave. The rest of the country, including all the least restrictive states, is not yet showing it.
Michigan has shown an increase in cases since the last week of February. Daily death averages during that period have only rise from 16 per day average to 25 per day. As I said further up in the thread, there may be some transient increases in cases in some regions, but the overall effect will be muted and deaths will not significantly increase again.
Who are the scientists? Name them.
