Phenomenon known as virus interference flagged in DOD study just before COVID-19 burst.
Just a few short weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic burst into public view, a medical researcher published a study on military members who got the flu shot. At the time, it barely created a ripple but its findings are now likely to have a larger impact on the future policy debate over infectious respiratory viruses.
The study published by Dr. Gregory Wolff in Science magazine was entitled, Influenza vaccination and respiratory virus interference among Department of Defense personnel during the 2017-2018 influenza season" and it addressed a suspected phenomenon known as "virus interference."
The question Wolff, who is with the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Branch Air Force Satellite at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, sought to answer was does the influenza vaccine, i.e. the flu shot, increase the potential for infections from other respiratory viruses. He had the perfect test population: military members who were mostly required to get the annual vaccine.
His findings were mixed: Overall the "receipt of influenza vaccination was not associated with virus interference among the DOD personnel, he wrote. But he added: Examining virus interference by specific respiratory viruses showed mixed results.
And here's the kicker. Vaccine derived virus interference was significantly associated with coronavirus and human metapneumovirus. However, significant protection with vaccination was associated not only with most influenza viruses, but also parainfluenza, RSV, and non-influenza virus co-infections"
In other words, there was some evidence a flu shot recipient might be more vulnerable to a coronavirus although well protected against many other forms of infection.

And you came to that conclusion by comparing medical personnel to everyone else.
I’m pointing that that isn’t a valid comparison.
Troop are ALWAYS going to be healthier than the general population.
And ‘troop’ are in the age demographic that can very easily HAVE this (or any other) coronavirus and not know it.
Granted. But what Dr. Gregory Wolff in Science magazine is wondering is if the flu shot made those military personnel MORE vulnerable. The evidence would seem to say no.
There IS no control group in the military.
They *all* get those vaccines.
W/o a control group, you have no comparison to any other group.
Goodness gracious. That's my whole point.
If the flu shot made them more vulnerable, the percentage of military personnel contracting the virus would be astronomical.
I never get a flu shot and am rarely ever sick and have never gotten the flu.
Not getting any vaccine for the Chicom cooties either.
No.
You have NO control group for that age/health demographic.
You, thus, have NO comparison for who or how many of that group would get that.
W/o a true control group (troop who did NOT get the vaccine), you have no idea what constitutes ‘astronomical’ numbers for that or any other comparison.
Have a nice day.
In Brazil, they’ve tied getting official identification (like drivers license) to being fully vaccinated (even adults) with whatever is mandated.
From unclassified military news reports, "a lot". The military is quite concerned about it and is taking a lot of preventative steps.
That's one/tenth of 1 percent. The percentage of the general population is .2 percent. That's double.
As far as the USS Roosevelt is concerned, that brings up an interesting question. Why didn't ALL military ships and bases see such an outbreak?
If you take the Roosevelt out of the equation, the infection rate would be even lower.
So, ipso facto, the flu shot did not make them more vulnerable.
The only time I received the flu was from a military administered flu shot
I know they're not equal...but....striking, to me, anyway, the vulnerability to CV, between the two.
Thought you might've found interesting, as well.
The overactive immune system aspect makes me wonder if the kawasaki kids have had recent vaccines for anything else.
I wonder if there is anything a Brazilian could do to protect/offset and potential damage from the vaccines?
It might be a good thing to research, especially for parents and those at risk.
The fact that you’d need to research ways to avoid damage from a procedure that your own government would mandate is in itself a problem. Given that the same government tells you anyone suggesting there might be ‘damage’ is a tinfoil hatter who wants to kill the children.

I have been wondering the same thing, Black Agnes. I also wonder if they had been given too many combined vaccines, overwhelming their immune systems.
Would be interesting to research these poor children’s medical history, what medications they had been prescribed, family medical histories, etc. I hope that is going to be done.
I haven’t, but I am familiar with it from listening to various radio/internet sources.
I often think of Semmelwiess, and wonder if anything has ever changed, in that we humans can easily forget prior bad ideas, like bloodletting.
It’s not the forgetting bad ideas.
It’s who makes billions on the bad ideas and how entrenched they are in the current power structure.
We should collect the bat carcasses strewn about under the windmills and recycle them as a medium for developing new coronavirus vaccines.
Great point.
Although, I doubt we’ll ever see any studies....or RESULTS of said studies, on this :- /
