Denver Councilwoman Candi CdeBaca is getting major blowback over a controversial tweet sent on Friday.
CdeBaca quoted a tweet that said, “For the record, if I do get the coronavirus I’m attending every MAGA rally I can.”
CdeBaca responded and quoted the tweet by saying, “#solidarity Yaaaas!!”

I understand. Most people of Spanish decent in northern NM still refer to themselves as Spanish. It is mostly to differentiate themselves from Mexicans.

My SPANISH ancestors came into New Mexico, through Old Mexico, in the period between 1620 and 1650. As soon as they could flee the SPANISH control they settled near what is now Espanola and gradually expanded into the better farming/grazing areas of NW New Mexico/SW Colorado. They are still there trying to make a living, speaking their basterized SPANISH, and when forced to, English.
