Newt Gingrich: Trump impeachment will bring Pelosi and House Democrats condemnation by history
Fox News ^ | Newt Gingrich

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., seemed giddy Wednesday as she announced the impeachment managers who would go to the Senate and attempt to prosecute a case against President Trump.

“He’s been impeached forever,” Pelosi said. “They can never erase that.”

However, Pelosi has it exactly backward. The Senate is going to refuse to convict President Trump. He will be exonerated, and she and the Democrats will be condemned by history.

The wide repudiation of the House Democratic betrayal of the Constitution is already beginning. As a historian myself, I think it’s important to document these reactions.

Consider historian Victor Davis Hanson’s analysis for the National Review, which was subtitled: “The new normal: Impeachment as a routine partisan tool, endless investigations, lying under oath with impunity, surveillance of political enemies, zero accountability.”

This is hardly an endorsement of Pelosi’s trivialization of the Constitution.

Abraham Lincoln scholar and highly respected historian Allen Guelzo asserted in The Wall Street Journal:

[Charles] Pinckney and [Rufus] King might have been right in 1787. Americans prefer to choose their presidents with elections, and whenever impeachment is used in an attempt to nullify those choices, the results aren’t happy for anyone. That was true in 1868, and as both Andrew Johnson and his accusers might warn us, it remains true after a century and a half.”

Clearly, Pelosi did not know enough history to understand the warnings of Pinckney and King – or the sad end of the impeachment process against President Johnson.

When he was interviewed by Arun Rath, Harvard law professor and ACLU liberal Alan Dershowitz commented:

Schiff is a fiction writer. He wants to be a playwright.

His opening statement at the hearing of Trump’s conversation was just pure fiction. The man is delusional.

In "The Records of the Federal Convention of 1787" (ed. by Max Farrand), for Sept. 8, it quotes a "Mr. Pinkney" on impeachment. He was afraid that having the trial in the Senate would make the President too dependent on the Legislature--if he opposed a law they favored the two Houses would combine to throw him out of office.

There were two Pinckneys at the Convention, Charles Cotesworth Pinckney and his cousin Charles Pinckney. I'm not sure which one this "Mr. Pinkney" was.

C. C. Pinckney was one of the American diplomats who rejected Talleyrand's demand for bribes in the XYZ Affair. He was the Federalist candidate for Vice President in 1800 and the Federalist candidate for President in 1804 and 1808.

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., seemed giddy Wednesday as she announced the impeachment managers"

Her brain is not getting enough oxygen. When she sits down she starts to suffocate.

What must happen after, without fail, is a relentless prosecution of Pelosi and her mafia network of corruption including discovery and prosecution of those who control her. History must record the dealings of Schiff, Pelosi, Biden and all the rest in the schemes of voting congressional appropriations that were steered to surrogates that kicked back laundered funds and campaign contributions as a corrupt course of business.

Why (hasn't/isn't) the President's AG (Barr) prosecuting the criminals in the democrat party and media NOW ?!?! Why has the President allowed our enemies to remain in high places when it's in his power to fire and replace them? Inquiring minds want to know.

Pelosi “sad” about impeachment, tells distraught Americans to “put a little ice on that”.

> “Why has the President allowed our enemies to remain in high places when it’s in his power to fire and replace them?”

They are in the process of destroying themselves. Never interfere with an enemy that is in the process of destroying themselves.

Allowing them to continue their schemes and designs are a benefit not only to the President but also to the GOP Congress. Based on the trends, the President will be elected, the GOP will remain in control of the Senate, and the Republicans will take back the House.

Barr is investigating but his investigating attorneys are very tight-lipped and thus give the appearance that nothing is happening.

Rudy Giuliani has given hints. The Democrats are under a RICO like investigation. Those investigations always remain under the radar and suddenly there are enormous numbers of arrests.

Double agents are also valuable. Double agents working inside the Trump Administration with loyalties to the anti-Trump controllers can be fed disinformation. If these double agents do not know their cover is blown, they will be watched and secretly recorded. As has been said, FISA works both ways. We can be assured that secret FISA warrants and grand jury indictments obtained by the Trump Administration are legal and have merit with valid, substantial probable cause unlike the Comey-Strzok FISA warrants.

Remember that it was announced by the Office of US Attorney Durham that the probe had turned into a criminal matter. That means indictments are in the background, sealed, not public. I am informed we don’t see even 20% of what is happening in the background. it’s stated that if the American public knew all of what is going on in the background, they would not be able to sleep at night.

As a historian Newt needs to recall the left lies. It always lies. What should be called the First Republican Democrat War is called The Civil War, Joe McCartney is made into a villain, and the biggest lie of all is ‘Right’ is defined to include Nazi’s and Republicans when Nazi’s clearly shared much more attributes of Communism.

One of the Reps in charge of the 1868 impeachment, Thaddeus Stevens, was 76 years old, and in such bad shape that he had to be carried in a chair to the proceedings; then he died shortly after the trial was over. Is Ms. Pelosi about to follow the same example? And I am hoping that 2020 will be the last year that the Dems can nominate a presidential candidate, before they go the way of the Whigs and the Federalists.
