Goes something like, “THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT MURDER!”

You are pretty much right..."Thou shalt not murder" got changed somewhere to "Thou shalt not kill."

Two different things.

Like most fake statistics it isn't worth the time to look up who made it up. And it is probably true to some extent if you ask the right question. I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the population would agree with the statement:

"Do you think it would be good for the country if less people were killed by crazy lunatics shooting up movie theaters, schools, churches and night clubs."

The 10% who did not agree most likely don't speak English and misunderstood the question.

Activists often ask questions designed to skew the results, and then of course ask the questions to particular subsets of people to get the answer they want to hear.

And then we get the "everybody agrees" BS repeated endlessly when in fact everybody does not agree on real questions about the issue.

Exactly, everyone wants to see a big reduction in violence. We disagree on how to do it. If you can’t stop drugs you can’t stop guns and no amount of regulating lawful activity among law abiding people is going to change that. The majority of gun violence is drug related. But people on the left don’t really care about reducing gun violence per se, they just don’t like the idea of private ownership of guns. If they really cared about the deaths of young people they would be focusing on the 300 drug overdose deaths every week, and the murders and shootings that are caused by drug related events - dealers and pushers killing each other for turf and money, addicts robbing and shooting each other to pay for their next fix. More people are killed in Baltimore (or Chicago) every year related to drug related activity than all the mass shootings combined.

We could cut gun violence by half or more if the profit from the drug trade could be eliminated. No profit means no reason to fight or die. You don’t see farmers shooting it out over the market share for produce. Heck, you could start by just getting some task forces to aggressively stop and search all known felons on probation/parole and if they have a gun or drugs on them revoke their parole/probation and throw them into prison. That would reduce gun violence immediately as the drug pushers would lay a lot lower. But they don’t want to do that. Instead they want to create a climate where more law abiding people are dependent upon and in subservience to the government. Red flag laws, they want neighbors to turn on neighbors by ratting each other out for thought and speech ‘crimes’. They want their utopia not knowing it is really dystopia.

Good points. The left really don't want to reduce deaths from homicides. If they did they would focus on the urban neighborhoods where murders happen daily. In those areas they actually avoid charging criminals with firearms possession charges since those charges carry mandatory jail sentences.

What the left does want to do is disarm law abiding patriotic Americans - the Americans who will, if necessary, stop a socialist tyranny in its tracks. That's why they want to establish regulations that enable rounding up law abiding gun owners and they want to confiscate semi automatic rifles from law abiding Americans.

Now flip the script and have Trump wanting to make deals with AOC and meeting up with Milano. What would the nevertrumpers say then? Ted should keep his warnings to himself.

she was the kid in Who’s the Boss. Grew up pretty and starred in some movies, some actually pretty good. Not well-liked amongst her peers because she’s supposed to be difficult to work with.

Just look at their body language, and Ted’s hug is pretty provocative,

Gallup survey data on what people think the causes of mass shooting are is presented here

The Democrats put much more blame on guns, probably because they believe the "loophole" nonsense put out by anti-gun groups.

There is broad agreement that the mental health industry does a poor job.

Biden said, a few years back, that they do not have time to enforce gun laws. So what is the use of new gun laws if they won’t enforce the old ones.

Yes. There’s no such thing as gun violence. Anymore than there’s any such thing as knife violence, bomb violence, brick violence, or anything else. The problem is human evil. Not inanimate objects.

After all the election animus (”You are the biggest liar,””Lyin’ Ted,””The Bible held high, then he puts it down and he lies.”), I can’t imagine that the President would nominate the TX Senator.

Cruz obviously has a new P.R. team - he’s gotten his name in a slew of headlines in the last couple of weeks. Not a single one of these stories has an iota of relevance or significance.

King James, when he authorized the KJV translation, insisted that it say “kill” not “murder”. It was a political decision, not, a religious one.

Otherwise, soldiers would be in trouble just for defending their country.

The problem is not guns. The problem is people who commit murder do not have a relationship with their creator God. No one talks about that anymore. God has been taken out of the picture and replaced by the concept of “mental illness” that supposedly can be dealt with by the medical field.

I doubt President Trump was so insecure to have taken it personally. He understands politics is a street brawl and Ted Cruz put up a fight. President Trump respected that and in turn, Senator Cruz has become one of President Trump's staunchest allies.
