As patriots, we must root for anyone who is wearing the American flag on their jersey. But I’ve gotta confess – some of the women on the U.S. Soccer team have made that very hard to do.
It’s bad enough that some of them have disrespected the national anthem and others have cursed the president. It’s bad enough that many of them plan to boycott the White House visit.
But when Allie Long threw the American flag on the ground on national television — that is beyond disrespect.
“She knew exactly what she was doing, but just didn’t give a damn,” one sports fan noted on Instagram. “Damn amazing disrespect for a photo op.”
“Absolutely disgraceful,” wrote another. “Playing sports, you are taught at a young age to be respectful to the flag and our country.”
Thank goodness for the teammate who rushed over to retrieve the desecrated flag.
And perhaps the next time U.S. Soccer decides to field a team – maybe – just maybe – they could select soccer players who actually love the nation they will be representing.

Watch the video. She dropped it to take a picture with her teammates. She didn’t throw it to the ground. It was picked right up.
Much ado about nothing. There is plenty to dislike some of the players over. This isn’t one of them.
Women, maybe......ladies, not so much. Perhaps we should bring back “charm school”

Allie Long (#20, behind Kelly in the photo) seems to be a flag lover as well.
It was Leftist Team Captain Rapinoe (#15) who rejected the flag for her photo, directing it out of the picture, leading to it being dropped at the last second.

He did, and I'm glad he did. Even after Rappin' Ho and some of the other woke snowflakes on the team berated him for whatever the LSM has cooked up today, he showed himself the bigger man by following the tradition (such as it is) of inviting winning American teams to the White House.
If they want to make a political statement out of it, let them. I want to believe that most of the American public is on to the Left's tricks. In spite of what the Alphabet networks say...

I hope their careers are short and they suffer debilitating injury. How dare they disrespect their country in a foreign land. Revoke their citizenship and strand them there if they hate the rest of us that much.
I agree. I watched it under some banner headline about disrespecting the flag. I found it to be a momentary lapse not unlike things I have personally done while handling the flag. Not intentional, but wrapped up in the moment. The other girl who picked it up was great. This is a big nothing burger....
That being said I am personally disgusted with the arrogance displayed at the Thailand game and the drinking tea after defeating the Brits. And the total disrespect of our country by what’s her name. I would have loved to see them lose for that. But not the flag drop incident.
Anyone throwing our Flag on the ground should be thrown off a building.
DJT should be above the Hatred and issue a standing invitation to which they should respond to. That would show their true colors.
We were much better off as nation when communism was primarily a foreign enemy rather than an internal one. That had a unifying effect on most of the nation.
To those of you who feel this is nothing, I have to say I’m very disappointed. My father is a living WWII Veteran of the Navy. I guess also I learned patriotism from that generation and respect for our flag that should not be allowed to touch the ground.
Can you all who think this is A-OK not see the blatant disregard of our beautiful flag?! The focus was not America. It was all about ME ME ME.
Very disappointing. If we allow these traditions of the flag not touching the ground (among other things) to be dumbed down where will that take us.
Please rethink this.
Kelly O’Hara is on that team, obviously is tuned in to respect for our flag and deserves a trip to the White House as a world champ representing the USA.
Letting the left spoil the chance of a lifetime for a patriot would be the real crime.
