Thanks for this.

It was for 800 years and still was as of last week, a "working" church --- a praying church --- and not a "tourist attraction," postcard venue, or museum.

That photo must be of him in a mosque.

One must read into his use of Taqiyya in that statement. You’re right.

Thanks.

“Why would muzzies climb up into the attic, where they say this fire started, to start a fire?”

Are you saying that 8.5 million Muslims in France are prohibited from having construction jobs there?

I hate to break it to Smith, but the French government is refusing to rule anything out yet. And has said there will be a criminal investigation.

Even for a non-Catholic like myself it is gut churning to consider anyone would deliberately set a fire to this cathedral.

We do not know if it was set.

We do not know if it was an accident.

I have been in several buildings with a sudden power outage and then we were told "some workers accidentally cut the main cable behind the building" or "the backhoe hit the power line during the digging."

Many acetylene or other torches start fires near them.

Problem for Shep and CNN and other MSM: They have lied so many, many times that who can believe them? The MSM within a few minutes of a crisis or shooting or bombing or truck running over pedestrians on a sidewalk, says: "There is no connection with terrorism. The person acted alone." Then, comically, they say: "Police do not know the name or background of the alleged culprit or exactly how they gained access or got away."

But they know "no terrorist connection and he worked alone."

Now authorities, please tell me the motive of the Las Vegas shooter. I'll wait./s

They will never admit who caused this if it was indeed muslims as I believe. They’ll blame a dropped cigarette and arrest some poor slob.

And yes, I guess it was Livius who pointed out the importance of this edifice to western civilization. I, too, know its importance because, I, too, studied art history. A subject denigrated every day here at FR. It is art history that teaches one the importance of our 2,000 year culture. (As well as world history, of course.)

They can burn down an earthly church or cathedral, and will have to answer for it at the White Throne Judgement, but neither they nor the gates of hell will EVER prevail against the true Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Well said. We’ll never know the real cause of this fire, IMO.

If Muslims set the fire, the French wouldn’t want to antagonize the Muslims by telling the truth.

“Notre Dame is one of the world’s great treasures, and we’re thinking of the people of France in your time of grief. It’s in our nature to mourn when we see history lost – but it’s also in our nature to rebuild for tomorrow, as strong as we can.”

I think they did as they were singing in French and the words wouldn't be understood by many.

Of course, it may depend on the song they were singing.

if this was a Muzz arson their victory will be twofold:

1) destroying a priceless Western and Christian symbol

2) the spectacle of woke politicians and “law enforcement” attempting to cover up and pretending that they didn’t do it.

No one should denigrate studies that don't result in making money doing accounting, dentistry or actuarial work. Loss of an irreplaceable landmark of art and religion is heartbreaking.

Don't remember the precise quote but something like: "A civilization can advance only so far as its artists see to point the way ahead."

Another: By U of Michigan professor Ulrich B. Phillips: "In darkness dwells the people which knows its annals not"

Sad thing is, if this was in fact simply a horrific accident, the French government has lied and obfuscated so much about past terrorist incidents, a lot of folks ain’t gonna believe anything the French say.

6:30PM: Mass generally presided over by the archbishop of Paris, an important moment for any Catholics visiting Paris.

This is interesting. A timeline I read says that the fire broke out at 6:50 pm which would mean that this Mass was still going on. I also read comments (maybe on twitter) by a man who said that he was at Mass when everyone there was asked to leave due to a fire. All the news reports I have read have said that all visitors had left the cathedral 5 (or 10) minutes before the fire broke out, making it seem like the Cathedral was empty of people. I don't know what to make of this. Either way, it is a very sad day for the people of Paris and the world.

They are named after the same person.
