New Yorkers fleeing to Florida need to leave their terrible blue state policies behind as well
Fox News ^ | 17 February 2019 | Ed Pozzuoli

Back in the day, my native New York State feasted on the iconic I♡NY ad campaign, enticing Americans to drop in and spend their dollars in the Big Apple.

But now, we’re being treated to the spectacle of the state’s governor selling… not New York, but Florida!

In a recent press conference, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo blamed a $2.3 billion budget deficit in New York on the compounding effect of federal tax reform on the state’s sky-high taxes. And according to the Wall Street Journal, “(Cuomo) specifically mentioned Florida as an attractive option for New Yorkers who are unhappy with the change in the tax law.”

The Journal article also points out, “Preliminary data show a jump in Florida home purchases by buyers from high-tax states.”

[Snip]

For us freedom-loving Floridians, however, there's a rub. It seems all too many blue-state refugees, having found haven from tax-spend-regulate oppressors, turn around and import the very same blue-state politics that caused them to flee in the first place.

Up State New York means nothing in the polling booths, it’s ruled by NYC, and you know that as well as I do.
Just like California is ruled by LA, San Francisco, and Sacramento.
Those of us out here in the back country do have a vote, it means nothing, were just bulldozed by the big 3 WETBACK/PROG/LIB/COMMIE/DEM/LEFTIST cities in this state.

Many of those mentioned above emigrated here in the last 70 to 100 years (or less) from your EASTERN CESSPOOLS.

I was in Jacksonville visiting relatives over Thanksgiving. I noticed a billboard that said “The NRA is a terrorist organization”.

My first thought,is that they need to turn around and head back to New York. No one wants them in our South.

And that same, point of no return, is looming in Georgia(pretty much gone already), Tennessee and Texas.

Hell, I’m from NY and I can proudly say that I’ve assimilated quite well to the Georgia, Southern country boy lifestyle. The ones that come down here now, should go back to where they came from. They are a malignant disease.

However, all the blame rests on the Governors of: Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Florida. They ran around the country luring all the businesses with their promises of lower taxes, better quality of life, better weather, blah blah blah bullsh*t!!!! They said that all these companies would provide jobs for folks in Georgia, etc. Well, what they did was bring all the Northern liberals with them. They put up subdivision after subdivision, ball fields and soccer fields. The Liberals were able to sell their 2000sf house, that they paid $10k+ per year in taxes on, for an insane amount and got a 4/3 mini mansion, while paying a 2/3rds or more, less taxes, with swimming pools and tennis courts.

I’ll do you one better, because they think they’re better than everyone else.

Their ability to vote should be suspended for at least 10 years.

Much like the immigrants(legal and illegal) and refugees that come to the US every day, they don’t assimilate to their new homes. They bring their BS with them.

I moved and assimilated quite nicely, sometimes wondering if I were born and raised in the right zip code. But, my father was a carpenter and rather self reliant. We didn’t have much money so he had to do for himself and the family. I guess, one of the reasons I love living in the South, where I do, is there’s still a feeling of being self reliant, at least for me. Go into Atlanta and you’ll see folks that cannot change a lightbulb.

The unfortunate thing is, most of NY is pretty RED. But, like so many other states, the cities dictate what happens. And, liberals, loving the city life they way they do because they want to be able to ride their Vespas and scooters everywhere, populate them and take over, unfortunately.

Hell, outside of Chicago and it’s immediate suburbs, Illinois is solid RED. Nothing but farmers and hunters all over the state. It’d be interesting for the states, even NY or California, to run their state elections with an Electoral College and see what the results would be. Someone commented a while back, they tried something like that in Georgia. Something along the lines that each county would pick a winner and then count up the votes by county, or something like that.

Georgia almost elected a tax cheat, avowed Socialist. If current trends continue, in the next 4 years, enough illegals and Northerners will have moved in that she will win if she runs again. Or she’ll get a Senate seat.

Unfortunately, gcparent, you’re one of many whose votes are cancelled by the folks in NYC, Albany, Buffalo, etc and all the illegals that enjoy the privilege of voting.

NY was a great place to grow up and if one can afford to stay there and live their lives, without worrying about the ever increasing property and school taxes, I guess it still is.

But the fact is, it’s too expensive, cold, crappy, etc for a lot of folks and they seek opportunity elsewhere. I’m not saying that they all move South or to Texas, buy a F250 Super Duty w/ 6.7 diesel, a .270 for deer season and start watching Nascar, but they need to keep that high tax, ideology where they came from.

That’s what kills me about the current crop of liberals. They are welcoming Omar, Tlaib, Cortez with open arms. They already have Castro. They think they’re all going to get control and sing songs around the campfire. One day, when they’re not looking, Pelosi, Gillibrand, Waters, Schumer, etc etc will all be gone. And they’ll be wondering how the hell it happened.

All one needs to do is look at Hamtramk, Mich to see what the master plan is.

Welcome to the party. Texas is way down this road IMO.

We retired from coastal Texas to an affluent area in central Texas over ten years ago. A show of hands at a room full of new residents showed that more than half of them had moved here from California. In 2018 our voting precinct barely gave the nod to Beto O'Rourke over Ted Cruz. A wall on the Rio Grande? We need to wall off California as well.

So true. Virginia is now as or more liberal than many of the NE states that turned it blue. At least states up North sometimes elect Republican governors. Unlikely to happen here again.

Maybe all you good old boys should stop blaming other Americans just like the democrats want. While there may be some I’ll bet most of your extra social programs are being voted in by the illegals Obama and company planted in your states. Just cleaning up the voter rolls will go a long way to restoring sanity in your state.

Shouldn’t some of these southern states bear 6k hsome responsibilities for their problems. How did Stacy Abrams get on the ballot. She owes 50k back taxes. 170k in student loans.what about the election fraud going on in Florida for years orchestrated by the election supervisor. Look at VA!

It’s too late here in Florida, too. Everyone of the proposed amendments on last election’s ballots passed. The Florida Constitution is starting to look like an encyclopedia set.

Someone here posted a few months back that state senates were determined like the US Senate until some decades back when the US courts (supremes?) decided that states couldn’t do that. It was under a liberal court period. So much for states rights and being a republic ( and not necessarily a democracy). So now become of that the state senates and state assembly are chosen by population density.

This could be something we could have a conservative court change.

But don’t hold your breath.

Why do northerners want to move south? With exception of Alaska and Nevada, the state’s with the highest crime rates are all in the south. I live in a very low crime area. If you call the cops they arrive at your home within 3 min. More to life than low taxes and low home prices.
*******************************
I looked up the FBI statistics and they don’t bear out your claims. I count four of the top ten being in the south and only one more southern state between 10-20. My own state, Mississippi, is #36 right behind Iowa. I can’t get a cop in 3,minutes though, they’re about 45 minutes away I’d guess. I don’t know for sure because no one I know has had to call them. You might rethink how safe your area is if you have to have cops within 3 minutes of you.
