Florida Republican Scott asks that ballots be guarded in US Senate race recount

TELLAHASSEE, -Florida Republican Governor Rick Scott, whose lead has narrowed in the state’s US Senate race, filed more lawsuits against local election officials yesterday, asking a judge to order police to impound voting machines and ballots when they are not in use.

On Saturday, a machine recount began in the race between Scott and incumbent Democratic US Senator Bill Nelson in one of the most closely watched swing-state contests in last Tuesday’s congressional elections.

Each side has accused the other of trying to subvert democracy in an echo of the drama in the 2000 presidential vote recount that unfolded for weeks in Florida.

By the time the US Senate election recount was ordered, Scott’s lead had shrunk to 12,500 votes, or 0.15 per cent, below the threshold under which a machine recount is automatically triggered under state law.

Scott’s lawsuit yesterday targeted election supervisors in Democratic-leaning Broward and Palm Beach counties. It asked a judge to issue an emergency injunction for the county sheriffs and Florida Department of Law Enforcement to seize all voting machines, tallying devices and ballots when they are not being used until the end the end of the recount and any related litigation is over.

“The Broward and Palm Beach County Supervisors of Elections has already demonstrated a blatant disregard for Florida’s elections laws, making it more important than ever that we continue to do everything possible to prevent fraud and ensure this recount is operated responsibly,” Chris Hartline, a spokesman for Scott’s campaign, said in a statement.

Scott filed a separate lawsuit late on Saturday against Broward County officials, asking the judge to order that any ballots counted after noon on Saturday be disregarded, saying that to include them would break state law.

Nelson said in a statement on Saturday that Scott was panicking.

He shouldn’t have to ask. Just do it. What judge would issue can injunction on this?

Ballots have a chain of custody requirement.

Ballots just found somewhere have no validity and these are clearly fraudulent.

Another day or two should be sufficient for the Rats to manufacture ballots to overcome that number.

Little late now. All the undervotes have been marked for Nelson.

People say it would be unprecedented for a recount to find a 13,000 vote discrepancy? Just wait and see.

Those ballots should've been locked down at 8:01 pm last Tuesday.

All this is good but they need to capture hard evidence and put people in jail and not just some blurred video of somebody putting something in a vehicle 50 yards away.

Isn’t the horse out of the barn? Does he want to guard the fraudulent ballots there already submitted?

It's time for Scott to offer an enticing REWARD for any witness/participant to any VOTER FRAUD NETWORKS, no questions asked or prosecutions to said witness/participant. Info. must lead to prosecution of others involved in such conspiracies/networks, however.

OFFER A REWARD, RICK!

You are correct, but a judge will likely rule otherwise. (You cannot disenfranchise voters just because of a careless error.)

WHY can’t virtually-fool-proof paper voting systems be created?

For example,
1) Print only 50% more ballots than could ever legitimately be used.

2) Print ballots on special paper that is nearly impossible to obtain illegally.

3) at the time of printing, create several unique custom stamps that would be near-impossible to duplicate perfectly. Run all ballots thru machines that stamp all ballots with these stamps. One stamp using a custom-formula magnetic ink like used for money. Other stamps using ultra violet ink.

4) After all ballots are printed, destroy, or lock and seal all stamps in a safety deposit box that requires at least two keys to open.

5) COUNT, and give each precinct no more than 20% extra ballots than what they could ever need.

6) WITHIN 30 minutes of the polls closing, require by penalty of felony, for each precinct chair to COUNT and REPORT all (unused and spoiled) ballots that will NEVER be counted, and SEAL those in a tamper-evident bag, with the precinct-chair’s signature on that seal.

7) The remainder (ballots provided, minus (blank and spoiled) ballots should be the total number of votes that will eventually be counted that night!

8) No more of this SH*T where the ‘rats wait to see how many more ballots they need to “create” to swing an election!!!

Nelson said in a sarcastic way that Scott is panicking??? Nelson also said that he is sure he will be the victor after the recount. That is a valid reason for Scott to panic and request armed guards.
