No winning lottery tickets were sold for Tuesday's draw, Mega Millions officials said. The numbers for Tuesday night's estimated $667 million grand prize were 3, 45, 49, 61, 69 and Mega Ball 9.

In 2016, there was a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot, according to Reuters.

The last winner for the top Mega Millions prize was on July 24, when a group of California office workers won the $543 million jackpot.

It costs $2 to play the game and the odds of winning aren't in your favor. The chance of matching all six numbers and taking home the grand prize is one in 302.5 million, while the odds of winning any Mega Millions prize are one in 24, Reuters reported.

Mega Millions is played in 44 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“If I win I will cure world hunger.”

Then you’ll just make the price of food go up.

If I won I would buy farm property, as much as I could get in one undivided chunk.

$494 million cash prize
(220 million taxes)
=$274 million net.

274 million * 4% diversified dividend and bond stream = $11m/year and growing to live off without ever toughing principal. Yeah, I could make that work I think.

About $270 million after taxes, depending on where you live.

I get tired thinking of managing that kind of wealth, not to mention protecting oneself from all the creeps who’ll be interested in getting their hands on some of it.

I’m not sure what I’d do if I won. Maybe have someone (or a team) come in and clean the house, do the laundry and do some yard work. That would be nice.

The best thing a winner can do is stay anonymous, financial adviser and CPA Kurt Panouses, who helped a Florida couple that won a portion of the largest jackpot ever, said.

“The initial concern of the ticket is probably the most important part of the planning aspect,” Panouses said. “What the individual should do is protect the ticket, keep it safe, put it in a safe place, but do not sign the back of the ticket.”

“Whoever signs the back of the ticket is the individual that has to claim the ticket and the proceeds,” Panouses explained.

Panouses also suggested making a copy of the ticket and getting a tax professional and an attorney to help manage the funds and offer investment advice.

A little dated but the article has good pointers just in case you win.
