he just said he’d extended the deadline for her to agree to testify.

McConnell and Grassley have the power to prevent these Senators from going home to campaign during the critical five or so weeks prior to the election.
I know of no Supreme Court cases that need deciding in the next two months. There is more time than people realize to get this job done and more Democrats are going to want to end this fight as time goes on.
What I am claiming does depend upon us holding the Senate. That is absolutely key. Confirming Kavenaugh prior to the election is less important.
Ah! So that must be where the rumor arose that she had made the same complaint to Feinstein about Gorsuch as she later made about Kavanaugh.

Forget the rule of law, throw the Constitution and any senate rules out the window...it's all about how they "look". We elect those guys to stand up for us and make those difficult RIGHT decisions, even if it's not the popular decision.
They are letting the left throw a wrench in our gov't processes. Kavannaugh may get confirmed, but all this hell he and the rest of America has gone thru will be repeated again and again. You can count on it. It's time they were put in their place.
I'm not sure what she, her lawyers, democrats, the left - whoever is behind all of it - is stalling for, but it can't be anything honest or good.

What’s happening is he’s a big softy like most of us conservatives are, contrary to the leftist stereotype. They’re a bunch of hateful Jacobin lunatics and assume we’re the same way, but we’re not. This is the basic asymmetry of our politics.
Grassley’s going to let things slip a bit out a sense of decency but he’ll make sure the confirmation stays on track, because he’s not a dunce.

I don’t know what Grassley is thinking but I know what happened.
He set a deadline of 5PM and Ford said it was too tough to comply.
Grassley extended it to 10PM ... and Ford said “you big meany!”
He responded that the vote was set for Monday.
Then he let the left howl for a couple of hours.
Now he extended the deadline another day.
How much longer can the left sustain the “you’re unfair” complaint?
