But it is now the only way to reassure a critical mass of Americans that mass immigration is under control, and the only way to make any progress under this president. It should come with a full path to citizenship for all DACA immigrants, as in the proposed deal in January that Trump first liked and then reneged on, under Miller’s toxic influence. But it should also go bigger: a legislative fix for Flores; massive new funding for detention facilities, humane family-friendly housing, and, above all, much more money for the immigration legal system, now completely overwhelmed by asylum cases. If Democrats can show they want to deal with the humanitarian problem as a whole, and are willing to compromise on the wall, they’ll be in a much stronger position going forward than in the recent past.*
Trump should start a deportation force consisting of all fifty states national guard forces. He can federalize them by executive order. Start at the canadian border and start pushing south from there. Each day round up as many as possible and fly them to Guantanamo to await their extradition hearings. This would not have to be completed the plan alone would force many millions of criminal aliens to self deport. Also the democrats would bleat and cry but then they would give in and allow the wall to be built.

Sullivan has stumbled onto an inconvenient truth: you can’t both claim that there is a border crisis and fight Trump’s signature solution tooth and nail. The media blitz didn’t take and November looms large. If Trump takes “Build The Wall” into the midterms it’s a winning issue, and the latest media frenzy only reinforced that point. Sullivan is saying “cut your losses and negotiate for the best deal.” Which would be good advice but it’s being offered to a shrieking, spittle-throwing mob that is not amenable to reason, driven by media who are perfectly happy admitting to their lies and still doubling down on them. Stay armed, stay safe, and get out the vote!
