KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine (CBS/AP) His home on the rocky coast is former President George H.W. Bushs happy place, chock full of sea-sprayed memories of boating, golfing, family and friends.
But this summer theres a different feel as he arrives without his wife of 73 years.
The nations 41st president arrived Sunday at Walkers Point, where he spends his summers, a little over a month after the funeral of his wife, Barbara, in Texas. Residents waving American flags lined the streets in Kennebunkport to welcome Bush to town.

Yeah yeah yeah....
“Flag-Waving Crowds Welcome Former President George H.W. Bush To Maine For The Summer”
How about welcoming the prick to one of his 1,000 foot gun free school zones?
Maine is pretty nice in the summer.
Think he flew Delta or United up to Maine?
He’s a east coast elitist. Brave patriot who should have stayed out of elected politics. imo
“I was a very loyal supporter of W, but I now think of that family as pseudo-commoner elitists.”
They always were. W was ok and beat Gore - he fought for it even when the Dems tried to steal it - which we must always be grateful for.
I like how things have evolved with Tea Party and clearer distinctions among the factions.
The “New World Order” guy. at least he was honest & told ya all he was going to sell out the country....so there’s that.
I remember when leftists hated the Bushes, now since the Bushes hate President Trump, the Bushes are loved again
Me too. I was on his protection detail in 1990 as a MSG. Tall man. I never could understand how a smart man with honorable military service couldn’t connect some fundamental dots as to who conservatives are.
Ditto.
...finger waving crowds...
The Bush League Republicans have been trying to turn our country into North Mexico since Daddy Bush.
Their control of the party left US with only amnesty candidates to vote for. Intentionally.
This is more of a celebration of a part of history. I guess if Hoover or Truman came to town years after leaving office and your parents or grandparents hated him when he was in office, the town might still have used the occasion to have a party.

Unlike Jimmy Carter, who flies commercial, I’m sure George H.W. Bush flew a private jet. A corporation I worked for in the 1990’s had a couple of corporate jets. Periodically a call would come from Houston with a request from the former president for a ride if one of the jets happened to be going from Houston to a specific location on the planet. Unless the CEO was using the jet it would be sent from the corporate headquarters city with a courier to pick up Mr. Bush. It would fly to the city Mr. Bush wished to go and the courier would deliver a package in that city before returning to the corporate headquarters.
The trip was deductible as a business expense (delivering the package). Mr. Bush got to where he was going. Bush received a favor which he would pay back in the future with a speaking engagement or at some point in the future a favorable word to a foreign leader for some project of the company. Everyone was happy.
No doubt George W. Bush and Barack Obama have similar travel arrangements today.
Maybe Stefan Halper is hiding out with 41 in Kennebunkport.
I don’t care much for the Bushes anymore, but I’m sure the town feels like it may be his last summer.
A lovely place to be.
Ping.
