Melania Trump's State Dinner Menu Slammed As 'Froo-froo Garbage' By Pundit (Erick Erickson)
Newsweek ^ | April 25, 2018 | Harriet Sinclair

Posted on 04/25/2018 4:57:38 PM PDT by EveningStar

First lady Melania Trump’s menu for the state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte was described as “froo-froo [sic] garbage” by a conservative pundit, who suggested the fare was out of touch.

In a tweet, Erick Erickson mocked the menu selected by Melania—who eschewed an event planner in favor of organizing the occasion herself—which included a rack of lamb and jambalaya...

Erick Erickson @EWErickson

This menu is why I could never be President: http://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/384422-first-lady-releases-menu-details-for-macrons-state-visit  I'd serve fried chicken and mashed potatoes with sweet potato pie for dessert. None of this unpronounceable froo-froo garbage.

Cherry tomatoes would be about the only way to do it that would look and feel natural. And why not. Half-dip them in the coolest melt possible so the tomatoes would not be cooked. Just make the chocolate SWEET and not semisweet.

I have heard about the chocolate covered cockroach, but always thought it a bad joke.

Jambalaya is very hearty. The menu sounds delicious. Erickson is jealous. Putz.

The article I read, re the last State Dinner that the Obamas threw, clearly stated that Mario cooked the meal.

Says it has “chameleon” properties so it can be prepared like all kinds of rice. If you’re having trouble, then maybe that’s a euphemism. How did they get away with this stuff in slave days, if that’s where it came from? Old forms of cooking are not as precise as our modern forms. Perhaps baked?

I have found some rices need more cooking than they say on the bag. Hardness of water could make a difference.

Oh, yeah, he’d be the first guy I’d invite to prepare a menu for me. Mashed potatoes and chicken? Probably instant mashed and rancid chicken from the rotisserie section of The Piggly Wiggly.

Agree, unbelievable pettiness. Nothing on that menu that I would not have enjoyed...

And it’s so hard to get wrong that the mixes from Aldi work just fine. But maybe doing it with Carolina Gold really is a challenge.

Saw a story today about how the chef asked if he could come back and do the dinner so he could say he cooked for the French at the White House. It didn’t give details about the food though. Maybe we’ll hear more later. I’d love to know which Oregon wines they served.

Never have been able to choke the stuff down, but that's just me.

You must have never had lamb prepared properly. Maybe you had overcooked mutton.
