Former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen (D) now has a 10-point lead over Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R) in their race to replace the retiring Sen. Bob Corker (R), according to a poll released Thursday.
The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) poll found that 45 percent of respondents would vote for Bredesen if the race were held today, compared to 35 percent for Blackburn, as first reported by The Tennessean. Another 17 percent said they remain unsure.
The survey indicates Bredesen, a former Nashville mayor, is gathering a wide coalition of support, with a plurality of self-identified independents, 45 percent, saying they would vote for him, compared to 33 percent for Blackburn. He also gets more backing from across the aisle 20 percent of Republicans say they would vote for him, compared to only 5 percent of Democrats who say the same about Blackburn.
"I think some of that good will or social capital that he built up as governor may be paying dividends for him now," said the director of the MTSU survey.

The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) poll- A university poll is meaningless.
Still 7 months to go. The Dems have a lot of bat-sh*t crazy stuff to display until then.
losing one or both houses of congress would guarantee trump’s reelection (and no, despicable nancy pelosi wouldn’t have the votes to impeach him, and even if she did, she would be committing democrat genocide) in 2020 for a number of reasons.
(A) people may need to be reminded what that sh*t looks like again, and why they hate it (B) trump is very good at smashing people in the mouth; 2 years of destroying the ridiculous crap that comes out of schumer and pelosi’s mouth may be just what the doctor ordered (c) the massive economic and stock market contraction that would occur with the SJWs calling the shots would be undeniable evidence that they aren’t fit to lead.
probably a couple more. that’s just off the top of my head.
“””a Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) poll”””
It better be, or adios 2nd Amendment
Name recognition, plus very crowded Republican field. Whoever emerges as the GOP candidate will win.
What was the GOP versus Dem voters contacted?
Imagine you’re a Democrat all your life and your party goes to crazytown with illegal immigration, gun bans, race/gender/LGBT victimology, etc, so you start voting Republican out of necessity.
Suddenly, a Democrat comes along that you were comfortable with when he was governor, so you give him a chance. This is how Manchin won a race in a state where his national party’s politics is 180 degrees out of phase with the residents. Democrats have no problem lying about how conservative they are to voters if it’ll help them win. So do Republicans for that matter but not anywhere on the same level as the Democrats.
Lamb did the same thing in PA.
TN voters are often wrong, but they did finally wise up to Al Gore.
No it’s not that far away. And Dems leafing a Tenn senate race when both candidates are well known is a bad near apocalyptic event. Conservatives seem asleep on the side of the road as the big govt bus passes them by.
Finesse, not panic, is the prescription.
The fact the Democrats are even viable is nothing to dismiss with a shrug of the shoulders, and a “HOW is it possible!?”. THEY ARE. The only answer is the leftist ownership of the MSM other than OANN, and FOX, and FOX is part time one way, or the other.
ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Miami Herald, and so many more we can count on Leftist leaning bias, or downright fake news.
These are the sources MOST of America are getting their news, and it shows by the results of these polls, and by the commentary in the occasional man on the street interviews. News articles indicate a massive amount of cord cutting the past year, or two, therefore daily even more are becoming susceptible to those leftist news sources. The Left has the news/communications sewed up.
Our only recourse is to drive as many as we as individuals can reach to our news sources such as Free Republic, and other conservative news advocates as otherwise the truth won’t ever see the light of day.
Absolutely bad news: if so-called Republican voters can’t get off their fanny to vote in the mid-term primaries and general election, what is their purpose?
Actually what I’ve been reading is they’re avoiding nationalizing the local elections since they think Trump has an edge there.
1. To demoralize Republican leaning voters into staying home.
2.The Democrats have a system in place to cheat in the upcoming election (illegals voting, the dead voting, out of state voting, throwing out votes exc..), and need to show their leftist candidate "gaining" in popularity before the election.,
Either way Tennessee: Don't fall for it!
Anyone who runs as a Democrat IS A DEMOCRAT:
-Gun Confiscation
-Pro abortion
-High Taxes
-Open Borders (massive illegal immigration)
-Anti Christian-Christianity and any mention of God must be banned in public (no coincidence that democrats boo God at their convention.)
Hope they (Tenn.) don't do what Alabama did-Vote in the he radical left Democrat party with all of its Socialist/Marxist goals.
Bresden is 74 years old. There are already enough of them in the Senate on both sides. In fairness the rats have no one else. What does it say about Roy Moore and Sheriff Arpaio?
I don’t believe the poll. President Clinton was a sure thing according to most polls.
Bredesen, just another conservative Democrat......until after the election.
Phil was a popular Gov. and being a democrate in TN is not like being one in NY. Having lived there most my life I won’t be surprised if he wins.
