Trump signs $1.3 trillion spending bill despite veto threat on Twitter
Washington Post ^ | March 23, 2018 | John Wagner and Mike DeBonis

Just hours after threatening a veto, President Trump said Friday afternoon that he had signed the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress early Friday and averted a government shutdown. In a morning tweet, Trump said he might veto the omnibus bill because it does nothing to address the fate of young undocumented immigrants known as “dreamers” and does not fully fund his border wall. But speaking to reporters at the White House about four hours later, Trump said he had decided to sign the bill despite his reservations, arguing that it provides much-needed funding for the military, including a pay increase for troops and new equipment.Just hours after threatening a veto, President Trump said Friday afternoon that he had signed the sweeping $1.3 trillion spending bill passed by Congress early Friday and averted a government shutdown.

Never joined nor gave money to the GOP. Ever. A nice badge of honor for me. Always give to specific PAC’s.

“Anyone should, on balance, be thrilled with what Trump has accomplished in 14 months.”

That’s where I’m standing.

Though I understand the tendency toward “what have you done for us LATELY?” and the concern over lack of progress on other issues.

These silly overreactions are what happen when people hang their existence and happiness on the actions of others.

Others are going to disappoint your dream world where you only win and never lose a battle.

Time to suck it up and move on. You never win them all.

Trump had no choice.

The Kool-Aid is strong with this one.

2016: "We're gonna build a wall, and it's gonna be beautiful..."

According to page 376 of the Spending Bill, the wall is going to get built in Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Tunisia.

I'm sure it's gonna be beautiful.

And you can bet Schumer will makes sure he owns it. I can hear Schumer now ranting about how reckless Trump has been with taxpayer’s dollars.

It will be different next year and he’ll have more political strength to push back against the Rats and feckless GOPe.

No he won't. They have his number now. They will play the same game and he will feign protest, but then sign whatever they put on his desk. I know it. You know it. And especially, the swamp now knows it.

History is the best predictor of future performance. If you're a pussy today, then tomorrow...

You are right, he had no choice since he is not willing to fight for his own principles and ideas. And now, neither am I.

The beginning of Trump’s Waterloo? Of the things that’ll keep conservatives home at election time, this one is up there.

Trump caved, he’s drowning in the swamp he vowed to drain. Planned parenthood, support for sanctuary cities, no wall, no border control, national endowment for the arts, 1.3 trillion, etc. Twenty two pages of increases will guarantee the loss of the House and increase the chance that Trump will end up getting impeached. Schumer and Pelosi claiming how they do better in the minority than they do in the majority. Sad day for us.

Exactly. He was fighting everyone 24/7 and treachery from within EVERYDAY. Anyone here on FR can do the same thing he does? It will wear on you. Easy to point and judge but he has victories for us at SCOTUS etc.

Look at the long game...

The budget he’s signing is just as large. Do you still believe he’s building a wall or an outsider?

“He said this won’t happen again”

Didn’t he say that last year this time?

By my count, he’s signed three of these monstrosities. Every time there’s a shutdown deadline, he signs what the United-party hands him

It will be different next year and he’ll have more political strength to push back against the Rats and feckless GOPe.

Additionally, he won't have more political strength next year. He will have a demoncrap majority congress impeaching him.
